Yeah I'd take Leao too obviously.

I'd even take someone like Welbeck on a 1.5 year contract. We really need a backup striker IMO. It could end up making the difference between winning the league and missing out. We need someone with experience and decent goalscoring form who can contribute if needed, but who also won't complain if they won't get more than 3-4 starts. Maybe give Danny a last shot at being part of something at top level, very very short-term.

We've already gone the Welbeck route before. He wouldn't come to us, he is being talked about being possibly back into the fold for England (maybe) and thats because he is getting games. If he comes here, his playing time will dry up once all our attackers are back.

Well let's try and see, and if not, look for some other short-term solution.

If I were Danny I'd take the possibility of winning the league and/or Champions League over the distant possibility of being England's last spare in a tournament. Nothing to say both can't happen either. He's been getting plenty of playing time for the last 6 years and he hasn't found goalscoring form like this before.

The issue is that "all our attackers" basically means Kai, because there's no way Jesus is ever going to start an important game for us again. So under the absolute best of circumstances we have two strikers available (more like 1 ½ really) before we have to tuck into midfielders, and one of them has basically been out a year. It amazes me that people think that's enough for a season where we're probably going to get deep into the league race and at least two cups.

We don't need any more players this season.

We just need to get the players we do have, back and fit and then ensure we manage the squad correctly to avoid any more injuries through overuse and hope we get luckier than we have been with some injuries too.

if danny welbeck is playing important games for arsenal we won't be winning the league or champions league, so he certainly wouldn't be coming here for that possibility.

It really doesn't have to be Welbeck, a better name will do just fine too. The point is that we need someone.

as little faith as you have in jesus, is as little faith i have in anyone that is willing to sign for arsenal in january to be a backup/3rd striker. i have no regards for attackers like that, it's a poor mentality in a position that requires an elite mentality. jesus has been reduced to this role, he didn't sign up for it.

what you're talking about reminds me of someone like braithwaite at barca. your club isn't achieving anything if you're down so bad that you have to play those players.

edit: i'll add that it's only clubs like bayern and psg at the very top that can get away with moves like that because they will win their domestic leagues regardless. they won't win in europe if they had to play those players though.

Meatwad I'm not talking about someone like Brathwaithe just for the sake of it, I'm talking about signing a proper striker because we only have one, and that's suicide. We should have fixed it in the summer but we did not. We're a bit past that now, time to look at the next window.

PSG signed Kvara last winter and won Champions League. I'm not saying we should break the transfer record. though: all I ask for is a viable option that hasn't just spent a year on the sidelines.

Kvara was signed to be the starter that they needed. The striker version of Kvara signing for us is someone to replace Viktor, not be his or Havertz's backup. Liverpool signed two strikers of similar quality and it cost them 200+ million.

I am in favor of finding an elite striker and making Viktor the quality backup. I just don't think there are any quality strikers out there that are simultaneously good enough for us but can't beat out Viktor.

he's better than viktor so he wouldn't fall into that category, he would be signed to be the starter. i don't think we can afford him anyway.

Guirassy, Alvarez, Sancet, Mateta, Sørloth, Thuram, Evanilson, Núñez, Vlahovic, Mikautadze, Biereth would all be on my list. So would Bowen, Wissa, Leão, Yildiz, and the PSG boys. All for different roles, reasons, and price points.

Coombs I doubt Dortmund would let him go, but Guirassy would be the perfect squaddie to have around for a few years. Such a good natural striker. Insane that he was left in Bundesliga while a bunch of worse strikers moved for massive fees this summer. The transfer market has no correlation to quality anymore.

Some of these names are just living off a reputation

Nunez - No, utterly unreliable in touch, finishing and everything else, older now too
Vlahovic - Leaving on a free next summer as he is on some fat 300k a week and hasn't done much to justify that and Juve wanted to reduce his wages
Biereth - Started very strongly in Monaco but has now scored 1-2 goals in 15-16 league games
Mikautadze - Not even respectable numbers in Ligue 1
Sorloth - Flopped in england already, Turning 30 and never will do the defensive work required in an Arteta side
Bowen - England international, WHU captain, won't go under 70-80m which is a scandalous waste of money for a player who is best played at right wing
Wissa - Just signed for Newcastle for 50m, not happening ever

Mateta I'd definitely take and Alvarez is the dream but not sure either is on the market atm

Klaus he's 29 with a 50m euro clause. Financially, they'd do well to sell, and they're Dortmund, so I bet they would.
