Neves or Kante
lorddulaarsenal Neves is looking for a team. Not a lot of time left, let's see what Berta can do
Partey is out of contract 😂
If Lookman is going to Atleti does that mean Alvarez is available?
they're quite different players so no
Gunner89 not that different. They both play left wing, second striker, or up top.
We have enough players even with Merino and Nwaneri out.
Norgaard, Zubi Rice, Eze, Havertz. Odegaard Saka, Madueke, Trossard, Martinelli Jesus, Gyokeres.
Still have two players for each position.
daredevil yup. Doesn’t make sense that on the one hand we are complaining that we don’t see enough of Eze, Havertz, Norgaard, and on the other hand want bodies.
Links between Tonali and Arsenal may be an early indicator of what will happen. Info like this rarely emerges unintentionally and could start a story that will be revisited in 4-5 months. There has been a growing feeling for some time that this summer could be pivotal"- Craig Hope (NUFC tier 1)
HomeSteak think that makes more sense from the Newcastle end as something to keep an eye if the reports of his agents offering him to Arsenal are true.
Tonali would be a superb addition to the squad
Saw him in Bergamo. He’s a unit with a wonderful cadence and style to his play.
Summer window ought to be fun
Tonali Yildiz or Barcola Alvarez And a new leftback
I'm a fan of Tonali too but reckon they will price us out, it's not really a priority position for us and I can't see us going for him unless we move some players on first.
I'd say it's a significant priority for us since it's clear that Merino is more backup striker than backup midfielder and the only other MF backup we have is Norgaard unless we think Nwaneri will play a significant role for us next season. Having said that, I would prefer Khephren Thuram to Tonali over the summer. Was a huge fan of his when he was in France before he went to Juventus and even now. I think he's among the best rotational MFs we can get to rotate with Rice.
I don't think it makes any sense at the prices being mentioned. We weren't willing to break the bank for a striker in the summer, a position where we had a clear gap, seems unlikely we'll pay Rice like money for a back up to Rice.
since i only see newcastle when we play them and he's never really stand out, i went to their forum (https://newcastle-online.org), some interesting comments:
Pretty sure Tonali looks much worse because of our style. Hes not a technician. Hes far more Gattuso with more box threat. Hes always looked best when we play high tempo football. The football has been insipid and anaemic since we started this possession style football with less pressing. Tonali should be for breaking up play, pressing, short passes and crashing the box. Hes not a never will be a playmaker , our midfield have absolutely no connection with each other and it’s been like that for ages .
He's better than decent on the ball, he gets it out of his feet quickly and really zips his passes to keep the game moving, that's a plus for a guy who's a defensive midfielder. But... he does have a couple of loose passes a game and at least one of them is where he passes straight to an opponent like he doesn't even see them Doesn't do him justice either just to say his athleticism and work rate are his best attributes, they're off the charts, he's like a force of nature when at his best. The issue is that the last few months, for whatever reason he's just not looked his usual monster physically and that makes his iffy passes stand out all the more. I thought this would be his last season here but I thought it would be Real Madrid coming in with a monster offer to have him do the running of 2 guys in midfield to free up the galacticos who only want to run one way, and I would've accepted it. Moving to Arsenal because he's unsettled here and ripping it up would hurt. Desperate to see him and Bruno in a deeper role with a creative player pushed further forward but looks like it won't happen. In hindsight Grealish would've been a decent punt signing but for the wages

and then this from twitter user that follows newcastle. https://xcancel.com/bensprattjourn/status/2018367609373180256
then again all of that sounds like how people talked about Declan.
Meatwad he'd be back up to Rice and he's not as good. Definitely not worth the big money that's being talked about. Also he seems like a lot of drama. Between the gambling and now this publicly offering himself around along with Newcastle probably digging in like with Isak why would we bother with him?
Personally, I don't have much interest in Tonali at the prices being mentioned. I would much rather go for a younger player with a much higher ceiling in Bouaddi, who also will almost certainly be cheaper. Bouaddi would be great 6/8 depth for Rice and Zubimendi IMO and personally, I don't think he's that far off from Tonali's level at the moment already. I have not been impressed by Tonali's form this season and from reading some Newcastle fan's thoughts on this rumor, they have felt his form has been inconsistent for most of the season as well.
Much rather have Tonali than Bouaddi.
People are talking up players like Yildiz, Bouaddi and the like as options. These are sub- 20 year old kids.
We have arrived - the last thing we need are kids who are tactically and positionally clueless and require significant development in those areas.
We need to be targeting players in the 23-26 year old bracket.
daredevil the reason people are hyped on them is potential. We know what Tonali is, he wouldn't move the needle much for us. It'd just be another good player in a big squad. I get why people get excited about young prospects because they let you fantasise about what if they go stratospheric. That's the next step for this team but Boudi I think would just be in the same situation Ethan and Myles are. Yidliz as an attacker may have more chance of immediate impact but I wouldn't be so sure. It doesn't take a genius to see Arteta isn't that comfortable with teenagers playing a lot of for us.
I think 21-23 is a good age to target on these prospects, someone in a similar situation to Calafiori when he arrived. Physically developed, has experience and can still get better.
Qwiss
Potential is fine being developed elsewhere. Developing potential is not or should not be the next step for this team. The next step should be a continuation of what we have developed and topping it up. We can't be repeating the same mistake Wenger made and replacing the top players with top potential.
We don't have time to develop potential. We need ready to go players who will contribute today. Not young talent with massive holes in their game who won't be trusted because they can't concentrate, track runners or or play with intensity.
Bouaddi is 18 and Yildiz is 20. People are ready to ditch our experienced players for these kids. It's crazy talk.
