Bernard Woolley I thought he did well at City because Haaland took all the attention of defenders.

I thought he had his best spells when Haaland was injured. This season he's not really tearing it up though. I wouldn't be against signing him, he's a very good player, but I don't think he's a needle mover either. The striker market lacks any clear option though so its quite tricky at the moment. If Havertz fitness issues persist it'd probably be a smart move.

Qwiss Alvarez can give us the Jesus profile without being injured half the year. We need someone who brings our wingers and mids into the game. Which Jesus and Havertz do but aren’t available. Plus he can make his own shot.

Claudius I don't really agree with us needing a false 9 to bring the wingers into it. We don't have high scoring wingers, Arteta doesn't want a Salah type who hangs around waiting for final ball opportunities.

Qwiss especially with the way our left back plays. You can't put 5 players in midfield with borderline wingbacks outside them and expect to score any goals. The false 9 thing is just a bad explanation for Gyokeres's rough start. Kai isn't a false 9, he is a target man.

Jesus is the one who plays like a midfielder when he drops too deep, and I don't thing it's a strength.

you can't say he doesn't want that type when they aren't exactly available. liverpool doesn't even have that type anymore. we play in a style that suits what's available to us.

Qwiss city play with a Gyokeres type. Only difference is they got the Gyok 3000 while we dusted off a prototype. I can’t think of too many top teams with this pure target striker. It takes away one man from your attack

Qwiss they dont need to be deployed as a false 9, they just need to be a complete player. 2012 RVP, 2014 suarez/lewandowski, 2017 kane, 2022 benzema etc. we can shop in those markets now. gyokeres is a case study in why a striker with a niche skill set won't work in our system. my bullish case for gyok was I thought he was a bit more well rounded and could deliver goals and also enhance his team-mates, but we have gotten neither

Qwiss nobody is saying it's easy, but at the same time we can't sit here and say there will be no great strikers that emerge over the next 12 months. people have been trotting out 'well who can we even get?' since 2013, yet there's been a glut of quality forwards that emerged since then. the market ebbs and flows and the next big thing can seemingly appear out of nowhere. we're now in position to snipe them when they emerge, if our recruitment and scouting team is up to it. even if we scoop one a bit early in their development arc like ekitike, as long as the profile correct its fine

I think the point is that we need to striker who does more than just stay in the box and wait for the ball for him to score. Someone like Henry would be great.
