Fuck that win felt good, the amount of times these fuckers have screwed us over in the past. It felt like the same again, they get a goal against the run of play, we get shafted with bad decisions but yesterday we found an answer to this. We played so well on top, we did not deserve anything less than a win yesterday.

It was great to see Rice back to his best. I don’t think people realise how good a Zubimendi Rice Odegaard midfield is potentially. You can keep your Pedris and Vitinhas. Once these guys get going, we will be unstoppable.

I was thinking of making a thread about our up coming fixtures or the actual title race but don’t want to jinx it but we are a bit fortunate with some of our next fixtures coming up:

West Ham at home - we play before Liverpool

Fulham away is after the international break so no team gets an advantage (imagine if we had to play them after a CL tie. We also play before Liverpool in this game week.

Crystal Palace at home - we play them on a Sunday after they played on the Thursday in EL. This is the first time we would have played Palace on a weekend with more rest than them.
(Please note Liverpool play before us this weekend)

Burnley away - we play them before Liverpool play their game

Sunderland away - we are play them before Liverpool play their game which is Man City away

So in summary, in the next 5 games, we play 4 times before Liverpool. This is massive. They play the big 6 3 times in this period too.

However this is the 2nd time I am saying this so far this season, I am little concerned with our struggle when it comes to scoring the 1st goal from open play. We seem over reliant on set pieces to do so, and this is simply unsustainable over the course of a season.

Tactics I agree with you in general, but don't think it applies here. Hit the post and had 2-3 great saves from Pope before they even scored, so with a little bit more luck, we could have been 1/2-0 up from open play.

Tactics I have been concerned too (and still am to an extent) but was encouraged by that 1st half and also Ode's cameo. I reckon we'll be creating a lot more from open play once we consistently have Eze, Ode and Saka on the pitch together from the start.

There is a general lack of care/quality in the final action which is leading to failed chances. Rice and MLS were both put through down the left side in the dying minutes but for some inexplicable reason couldn’t beat the first man and complete a routine pass across the face of the goal for a tap in. It was really poor.

I was watching the Nexus Icons match last week and there was a moment where Pires had the ball down the flank near the box and his two closest teammates were on the opposite side of the box with several opposition defenders between them, yet he was still able to find Hazard at the edge of the box - and all I could think was how none of our current players could have made the pass.

I agree with the general sentiment that we need to do better in open play and it’s often just that final action where so many players are lacking in care and quality. More positively, Eze looks good for a goal contribution every game but has been just short in his missed chances.

the way bruno g's handball on martinelli's shot in the 95th min was ignored by the broadcasters (one quick replay and never to speak of it again) and var is weird. it didn't qualify for this "var review" because it didn't get checked.
