Good to see Saliba back, lets hope he's sharp. But our bench looks strong AF. We've already seen what making the right subs can do. And we have plenty of difference makers on the bench.

To be fair to Merino he was the best of the midfielders in midweek and Trossard has done well off the bench so not a bad thing rewarding him.

But not exactly the "attacking intent to win the game" team I wanted to see loll.

Panda Mikel said in mid-week, and to use a rugby terminology, he has starters and finishers. It’s a squad game and good we have the ammunition to come off the bench. As someone else said, look at City’s bench in comparison - wtf is that.

banduan Honestly no point in thrusting Merino's goal exploits for Spain to make a case for that midfield. Merino plays in a very technical Spanish team with different responsibilities, creativity not being one of them. We need a creative body.

Now, I just hope he can make me look like a fool and score. This is a 'let's not lose' starting XI though. City are so open, we killed them last time.

Because it just is mate. These are fachts.

Reality is Ødegaard isn't fit, does more than run around, and that's why we have Merino. It's a big stage. Trossard for Eze is a different matter. I think @Sicario2 is on the mark, the match day plan is to soak up what they've got then go big with aggressive subs if need be.

Trossard is probably the most likely of any of our LW options to get on the end of a Madueke cutback. Madueke vs Khusanov could be interesting.

Not wild about seeing that midfield trio again though

Very little pace in this XI apart from Madueke. Biggest concern is we're going to get pinned back. Would be nice to have Gyokeres and Madueke score against these lot to get a big boost in confidence.

Again, we we've churned out bang average performances with that trio this season and Rice/Merino together in MIDFIELD yielded dreadful results last season
