daredevil True but whenever they've had any bad injury luck, they've fallen completely out of contention. In 23/24, they lost Salah for AFCON and with a hamstring injury for a month and finished 3rd by a decent margin. In 22/23, they lost VVD for 7 games due to a hamstring injury and finished 5th. Neither of those players missed any time last year and now are 33 and 34 years old respectively. Salah is going to miss at least a month for AFCON this year. Isak is joining but he's never had a PL season where he hasn't had a month+ injury so far since joining from Sociedad.
I think they have the most talented XI probably in the world but they are so thin and I just have a hard time believing that they will thread the needle two years in a row with near perfect injury luck to their starting XI. Meanwhile, we've been missing several of our best players and have still been able to string together good results aside from the loss at Anfield, where we likely didn't deserve anything worse than a draw. I like our chances but we need to continue to put pressure on them by piling up points over the next month or two.
