I think in the last 4/5 years there's been a clear data-driven policy from PL teams to target the best athletes. The financial brawn is allowing it to hog most of the biggest, leanest and fastest players.

They might not always be the most skillful, but the physical difference between PL players and those from La Liga, Serie A, Bundesliga etc. seems quite obvious.

Liverpool were really good tonight and after City have a piss easy run in the PL. They are not done and dusted by any means.

TambourineMan Wenger has it right, they'll be much better if Slot keeps Wirtz on the wing. Selection headaches will begin again when Isak is fit. But if City get any result against them they'll have a mountain to climb in the league.

Not so sure that beating this slow and lazy Madrid team is a good indicator that Liverpool are back as contenders.

Real got thumped 5-2 by a middling Atletico so they've been making mediocre teams look good for a few months now.

How was the Real Madrid midfield? It feels like they can't really get Bellingham, Tchouameni & Camavinga to work, explains why they pushed hard for Zubimendi.

JazzG it looked like they had no midfield. Also I think Guler was supposed to play on the right, but he didn't even visit that part of the pitch. He tried to play as close to AM as possible. So did Bellingham and Mbappe. It was strange to watch, no right winger, and Mbappe was never in the box. Insane tactics by Alonso.

And yeah, Courtois was amazing, it would have been 5-0 easy if he did not play. Best keeper in the world, also fucked Debruyne up, so I've always loved him for that

HomeSteak Heard Rodrygo was rubbish as well when he came on. I think the control that Kroos, Modric and Casemiro gave them has been hard for them to replace. Heard Camavinga played on the right for them, interesting choice!
