Great goals. Good game for youngsters to come in early and play with no fear. Great to see.
Play a bit slow while advancing the ball for my liking but cannot complain with 5-0 😃

Only downside is the injuries to the cap and saka. Hopefully just niggles and they can be back for liverpool.

I hope he stays. I think there's a good opportunity for him to convert to a striker in this system instead, and we need one if Havertz knee is serious. Merino and Trossard feel like dubious backups to Gyökeres.

On the right he looked quality - he will make us forget Saka's absence. Really not that concerned about Saka being out now, and he's faster as well.

Good win, I think we played much better without Odegaard. Madueke's performance was a positive surprise for me as I thought he would play more conservatively. Nwaneri was less convincing although he grew into the game.

swider Ethan lost the ball a bunch but we were so much more dangerous with him on the pitch. I think Ødegaard gets burdened too much with defensive responsibilities sometimes. At a two-bit fuckwit club like Leeds Arteta should just tell him to go out there and roll them over. It'll come naturally as the season goes on and we start behaving like prospective champions I reckon.

Exactly what we need against these teams even though I didn't think we looked great going forwards but we can improve that aspect and suss what we had to today. Just hoping the Saka injury isn't too bad if he's out I think it's very hard to see us doing what we want to for me.

Would Madueke have made that run and finished like Saka? I have my doubts. Saka still doesn't look sharp but the X factor he had for that goal would be hard for Madueke to replicate, especially against the scousers.

Klaus yeah Madueke was ok, didn't do much wrong but he was a little quiet. Nwaneri lost the ball a bit because he was trying to push the issue and make a real impact.

Tactics

Nwaneri seems like a forward playing in midfield to me. The game opened up after our 1st goal, which was the reason why we played better afterwards.

I am concerned about our attacking play before the 1st goal, it's reminiscent of how we played in a lot of games last season. We can't always rely on set pieces to get us out of trouble. Going forward, I'd like to see Eze-Ode-Rice/Zubi in midfield against teams like Leeds

Me too but it's early days. Season before last felt like it took a while to get going and we ended up putting in our best league campaign under Arteta. We've made a lot of personnel changes this summer, which are also precipitating one of the more significant changes in the way we play with Mikel as manager so I'm hoping we just need more time to become more fluent. First half was incredibly ordinary today.
