The other day I went to a romanian second league game, not even the better teams in that league, just like 8-10th place. I shit you not, the football was better then whatever the fuck that was from Villa and Newcastle. Technical level, and football IQ they should all feel shame. When PL teams are not yet fully fit there really is nothing there.

Agree with your first sentence. With Reijnders, I think it was 2 seasons ago at Milan in the 23/24 season when I saw him for the first time. Leao was getting all the plaudits (and rightly so because he was devastating) but Reijnders was my wishlist midfielder then. Off that limited viewing he seemed to have everything for that 6/8 hybrid role Arteta likes with a little more attacking nous than Rice. Didn't realise he was already 27 though.

That said, it was only one game. And whilst they scored 4 they didn't look that great for long periods of the game, and I could see them struggle again.

Good to hear, I only watched the extended highlights. It would be handy if Rodri would fuck his knee up again.

Personally I’ll be surprised if Rodri plays more than 70% of their games this year. We’ve seen the year after an ACL injury and it’s often filled with small to moderate muscle injuries like groin pulls that can be annoying to deal with. Reijnders is class and I was mad when they got him but he’s no peak KDB like he was being treated as yesterday. A Rodri-Reijnders-Bernardo midfield is definitely solid though. I still think defensively they are a bit weak as I don’t rate Dias anywhere near as highly as the popular consensus.

Put very simply, Reijnders might not be that good in theory but he looked pretty fucking good flicking it from his right to his left to beat two defenders, then chipping it to Lewis as if he were Greg Norman.

I think Reijnders is exactly as good as he showed unfortunately. Bloke has no real weaknesses: he's as good as they come in any central mid position, whether it's attacking or defending. Just a complete footballer. A lot of people have been slow on the pickup because he's a late bloomer, but that seems to be the trend currently doesn't it?

I targeted him and picked him up in my Fantasy auction squad - very happy to have done so too. He had a good pre season for them too.
