Slot basically confirmed what his approach will be when he was asked about defending and he said that he wants Liverpool to be an attacking side first and play interesting football rather then all behind the ball. That's what he's going to try to do.

Konsa defending exactly like you expect him to. What an absolute poverty player he is. He actually spots the pass and starts running before it's hit, and still he ends up second in that situation. Players like these have no business being at a club with Champions League ambitions.

Newcastle losing Isak is going to hurt them far more than it will help Liverpool IMO. If I was a Liverpool fan (gross), I’d be pretty pissed at how the club seems to be just completely ignoring its areas of weakness (physicality in midfield, defensive oriented option at fullback and quality CB depth). They threaded the needle last year in terms of defensive health, Salah having his best season and scoring clutch goals. To expect that to continue while only reinforcing their strong points and leaning into their pace in transition is just as naive as when Arteta leaned a bit too far into the “only sign duel winners” strategy last year. They’re one VVD injury away from being in real trouble and I think we are going to see a decline in him this year regardless. Konate is finally getting exposed as a good but nowhere near great/elite defender and their midfield is so lightweight. Personally I’m looking forward to matching up with them head to head. I think we match up with them very well.

Both teams looks pretty blunt and unexciting. Newcastle looked poor without Isak. Gordon is a good supporting player, but not a main focal point. Not sure if anyone is making up for the loss is Isak.

The other day I went to a romanian second league game, not even the better teams in that league, just like 8-10th place. I shit you not, the football was better then whatever the fuck that was from Villa and Newcastle. Technical level, and football IQ they should all feel shame. When PL teams are not yet fully fit there really is nothing there.
