Qwiss maybe but we have yet to deliver 89 ia the high water mark we will see if it's an outlier or something we can hit again but at this point we've never achieved that so I'm not sure it can be read that we can do that personally. Like Liverpool after 10-15 we will know what kind of team we are this season and if that is looking more likely.

awooga83 Attack will win you a game but a good defence will win you the title. As the old saying goes!

Liverpool would need a lot of teams to fall off with a defence like that, if you’re defence is around the same as others you can get away but today they could have conceded 3/4 goals.

JazzG I don't think a defence alone wins tut the title as I said we've seen that. I agree you have to get the balance right but we'll see where Liverpool are at. We are in the other boat the defence isn't enough to win titles tut have to win more games and those marginal matches.

Qwiss Yeah he was a big miss and think they’ll be a lot better with him back, wonder if they go with Mac Allister or Szbo when he’s back.

Both the Liverpool fullbacks looked very shaky to me

JazzG yeah the full backs were poor. I've been saying all summer not impressed with those signings.

awooga83 I think we will be much better in attack this season as long as we keep players fit. Two of our most creative players are Saka and then Odegaard, both probably link up the most on the pitch and I think they only played together in 19 of our 38 league games last season. I think people forget and underestimate how bad our injury crisis was last season.

I agree about your point on marginal matches, we drew 14 games last season and that is where we need the different options on the pitch but also hope the bulk of our key players don't get injured.

Happy with that. Too early to worry about who's dropping points - we just need to focus on ourselves till Jan - but it's good to see that the general assessment of Liverpool hasn't changed. Good team but plenty of weaknesses too.

Mirth Yup, this isn't Klopp's team of a few years ago. Who knows maybe they'll sign someone to improve and during the season they'll find ways to look more solid, Gravenberch coming back will help with that. Their full backs look defensively sus, they have a lot of firepower but relying on just outgunning everyone will be fun and entertaining but I'm not sure that will win them the league. Last season they were defensively a lot better, I think they conceded quite a few once the title was won but before that were on track to only have early 30s in terms of goals conceded which is decent.

Even the signing of Isak it doesn't really sense in my opinion. They ideally need a top quality wide player and possibly a CB. Ekitike as expected looks very good and you'd think they would want to build around him not sign another striker in his prime and shift him out wide.

Wirtz didn't have a great game either, he'll improve but imagine if we had signed a £120m player and didn't have a good game, the media wouldn't be so forgiving towards us....

If Frimpong and Kerkez aren't God's gift to fullbacks, about which there have been a few anxious declarations, that'll be a bonus.

Kel Varnsen Frimpong I always knew would be like this, whenever I watched Leverkusen he looked terrible defensively but good going forward. Kerkez I thought was a lot better defender than this, admittedly I haven't watched him play that much but he always looked decent when I watched him.

Coombs Imagine another club supporters had racially abused a black player and they had to stop play, I wonder if Carragher and Neville would have been so quiet about it.....

I wasn't impressed by any of their new players. They will continue to rely on their central line, Allison, van dijk, Konate, Szoboszlai, MacAllister and Salah..

Anyone writing off their new signings after the first game... Come on guys, thats like saying if Gyokeres doesn't light it up in his first match, we're gonna call him crud too. The players Pool bought are good players, it will take them a little time to gel. They changed a lot of things at one time. two fullbacks, Wirtz, Ekitike.. It doesn't always come together immediately. Lets not write them off, they still won their game.
