Yep was the essence of what I was trying to articulate before it felt like we are in a position of I hope the team chasing us are slightly worse then us and that feeling doesn't inspire confidence when it's City chasing you and it feels like you rely on someone else to get you over the line. As you say if it happens you don't care but right now it doesn't feel good.

The Carabo Cup final is significant. Win that and we win the league.

Qwiss mentally a huge blow for obvious reasons. The quicker we get a trophy over the line the quicker we get the next one.

Not only is the fatigue factor to our most important players a problem with our approach to this cup, I really don't think a potential loss to Man City is gonna do us any favours whatsoever in terms of the league charge either. Double whammy. Would preferred not to have faced them in anything before the league game.

Should have been a second-string affair all along with the attitude of we go out when we go out. Used it to keep squad players oiled. Aside from the finals we've been in, I could not tell you who has won this from any particular year in the last 20. No one gives a fuck.

Lukazan it’s the by-product of not winning anything in 6 years. Arteta’s only currency now is trophies so understand why he took this seriously. It was also important to break the semi final losing streak and get to a final. Now we have to win it. It’s also insurance for not winning the league. If we do at least no one can say ‘Arsenal haven’t won a trophy in x amount of years’.

But more importantly it will give us an edge over City especially in regards to the away prem game.

I don't think the League Cup run has had much to do with anything.

I think it'd be a stretch to imply it just caused us to drop points for instance … unless the argument is it caused Havertz's muscle strain.

Long way between now and March 22 when we take on City at Wembley. Can't see a practice run on neutral ground with a trophy at stake as bad preparation for the April away game in the league.

Burnwinter agree the challenges Arsenal are encountering about goal scoring, running out of steam etc we've seen this pattern throughout Arteta's time at the club I think there is something about that which is a bigger issue then what we've done in the league cup.

Kinda in the boat that he should be gone even if we win. Luis Enrique may be available in the summer, if so we should be all over that.

There are only a handful of coaches better than him in the world and Luis Enrique is one of them, so I would be good with replacing Arteta with him.

However, if the idea is to sack him and then ask questions later, then keep him. There is way more downside from where we are with Arteta than there is upside.

No, sorry mate, you've got that one wrong. Fatigue does exist.

I'm not saying there's no impact from fatigue, but I reckon there's a vibe issue that's more pressing. Been thinking it since Rice's notorious "always the fucking same" clip. There's something brittle and joyless about us.

It might be due to some circumstantial conflict, or it might be the hangover of prior campaigns, or it might just be that the manager has run out of fresh ideas. Arteta knows it, hence the "we're just going to enjoy our football" manifesto which is clearly out the window already.

Oddly enough I reckon @Sicario2 is correct: it would be huge for this group to push through and overcome City in the League Cup in a few weeks, and it would have a positive impact in the league. Either way we've lined them up at Wembley so we'd better beat them. That's a must win now.

Burnwinter I think there is a convergence of issue. The pressure makes us tighten up a bit but this needs to be overcome and other impediments like fatigue need to be carefully managed to not add to that issue. Being nervy plus feeling leggy is worse than just being nervy.

Panda that sky report is biased as fuck. They use some statistics that are irrelevant. Do they really think our players are sitting on their phones waiting for city's results an hour before they play their game? These reporters don't know professional sports if they believe that, it's conjecture at best

You know, we all feel a little down but we have also just put 3 past Sunderland and 4 past Leeds. We didn't play well on Tuesday, but Brentford away is a tough game (even if it makes me a little sick in my mouth to say it) for everyone in the Premier League. We shouldn't be writing ourselves off on the basis of this one. Sicario is quite right.
