city look pretty locked in here. they went out and signed 2 of the best players outside the top 6 and stabilised their team very quickly.

I think we'll look point to that run of 4 games where they dropped points with alot of regret when all is said and done

invisibleman18 we've already been hurt by putting too much focus on it. If it's all we have at the end of the season then the season will have been a massive failure. And we still have to beat City to win it.

We squandered opportunities to push away from city when they were wobbling so we've got to deal with it if they get their act together now and apply the pressure.

Meh, or City squandered opportunities to catch up. It's all perspective. It was the congested fixtures round Christmas then the slog through January, all the top clubs were dropping points all over.

Let's take a deep breath and recognise we still have the advantage. There was never any way through that didn't require us to win most of our remaining matches.

We play our next 2 before they play again so we can grow the lead to 9 points and get the pressure back on if we just do our job.

Qwiss yep true, these are the kinds of tests we haven't always been able to come through so we have to do it when it counts now.

It looks like managers are happy to play the second string until the semis - when all the top players go back in the lineup. The problem is that the double header in January adds to an already difficult Christmas period. It's not exclusive to Arsenal - all the top teams do it, but you almost wish that you lose in the first round so you're never in that predicament.

The double header last season against Newcastle cost us and we dropped point after Chelsea as well. this season. At the same time, you want to go far so your fringe players can play more often. I have no idea why they don't just get rid of it.

daredevil it’s the same problem you have with dropping anything anywhere else in football. Nobody is incentivised to be the one who puts players and fans first and gets rid of games. A typical premier league player is beholden to the premier league, the football league, the FA, UEFA/CAF and FIFA. Everybody wants their share.

City haven't been at their best but we didn't maximise the returns in that period. We could have been in 10 or so points and potentially would have killed City's belief not we've given them enough of a sniff that they keep going. We are out in front that's an advantage but this is the test for the team city have been there and done it and we've not got it done so there is a different onus on us. We have to show that we are a different team this season so demonstrate that starting tomorrow.

Yes and City could've been leading us by several points already. It's all perspective. It's useful to admit there are many points of view, and no real benefit from emphasising those that are most negative.

We're still clear at the top of the table. The most important thing about this season is how Arsenal performs now and not how Arsenal has performed up till now.

It'd be mighty upsetting to drop 3 points against Brentford, but it would take the wind right back out of City's sails if we instead accumulate 3 more.

Absolutely nobody maximised returns during that period. That’s the period when this season’s draw count passed last season, iirc.
