Amorim had no idea what he's doing. Now he appears to be picking up clues here and there, but it'll probably take him at least two more years to actually work it out and he'd been long gone by then.

Pep Guardiola has weighed his players and warned them not to over-indulge at Christmas.

The Manchester City manager has made clear that any member of the squad who returns from a short festive break out of condition will not be involved at Nottingham Forest next week.

Guardiola even refused his players a day off after Saturday's comfortable Premier League victory over West Ham to make sure the message hit home.

Guardiola said: "The players asked me to take a day off. I said, 'No because you didn't play good enough'.

"So Sunday recovery, train the guys that didn't play, and after three days off they have two days to prepare for Nottingham Forest.

"Every player makes a weight. They come back on the 25th and I will be there controlling how many kilos come up, (to see if) they come fatty.

"The moment they arrive after three days I want to see how they come back. They can eat but I want to control them.

"I have to make a selection for (December) 27 against Nottingham Forest.

"Imagine one player and now he's perfect but he will arrive with three kilos more. He will (stay) in Manchester. He will not travel to Nottingham Forest.

Pep the control freak is at it again. Didn't even give them a day off after a 3 nil win.

Personally hope they all overindulge and come back 3kgs more. Especially Mr Haaland. I'd like to see Pep drop him for being too heavy.

City have Cherki and Villa have Rogers - maverick players that can win games out of nothing. Who is our maverick? I think it has to be Noni. Stuff like that goal he scored v Club Brugge is what we need to win the title as you need more than #controlball in certain games.

eze would be the obvious candidate. actually has history of doing it unlike noni.

Yup Eze is probably more accurate, he has for Palace had spells where he has looked absolutely unplayable, a spell like that from around March through to May would come in very handy....

tazmania he’s the opposite of maverick. Far too predictable. Has reached a plateau for us this season. Of course he can still be effective as he has unreal football IQ but as a match winner I don’t see it. When was the last time he scored an important winner for us?Noni is the joker in the pack we need I think in the second half of the season.

tazmania I was thinking about that the other day, remember him scoring like vs United, from outside the box cutting in, insane efort(he has a few like that, even at the national team)..does not even try it anymore. I wonder if it's by design

Sicario2 Noni has done it in one single match. And now at all in the league. How do you reckon he's going to give us more of that than Saka? Or Eze who has had way more maverick moments where he'll try a shot or an inventive pass.

I think its more that defenders have gotten wiser to that move, and they tend to crowd him to the outside and try not to let him cut into the middle as much. That was one of his signature moves that yielded a lot of goals.
