if we didn't learn anything after last season then being winners is just not in the cards for these players. they would be too thick. i'm sure arteta is telling them not to be the first ones they make an example out of. if raya wants to the hold the ball for too long then that's a raya problem. we know the rules going into the season. if you feel the refs are going to be more strict with you then don't put yourself in that position.

Meatwad it's not just conceding PKs. we are the best at set pieces. But the narrative is out there that we foul and obstruct on set pieces. So it's as simple as having these bent fucks go to VAR every single time we score from a set piece and saying look his hand was on his shirt. Goal disallowed, free kick to opposition. Ignore or find a way to justify it when it happens the other way. This is so obviously targeted. They used us in their statement image ffs.

I feel if they are going to be strict with holding on corners and such then we'll be big beneficiaries. We got away with a lot of physical shit because we put the PGMOL on notice a few seasons back when we sent them videos of Newcastle and Aston Villa and asked for clarification of the rules and they said everything that was done to us was fine and then we went ham on these fuckers and they couldn't do a damn thing to stop us. Now they say they'll enforce the rules that have been on the books for a while. Well good, that's all we asked you to do a couple years ago, instead you told us to do the same thing. I feel they've been fair to us when it comes to physical play on set pieces. If they continue to be fair we'll benefit a great deal.

Hope I'm wrong and we actually put in a performance and get the win, but I've seen nothing in pre-season to suggest we'll be any different from last season. I expect another year full of draws and us finishing on around 75 points. The fanbase will no doubt find a way to blame the PGMOL and some imaginary targeting for it, though. It's never our fault - makes me wonder if y'all carry this victim mentality into your real lives as well.

Anyway, hope I end up with egg on my face on Sunday. Please, Arsenal, don't be shit.

A lot has changed , for one they have better attackers. Cunha Mbueno and Sesko is a big upgrade on Hojlund Anthony and Garnacho .

We've played just under one full game with arguably our strongest starting team in pre season, and when we did, we looked pretty good. I'm certainly not going to judge us on those performances.

You can get just over $3 on a draw here - not bad odds at all.

I only caught the highlights of the Bilbao game but I thought there were some pretty clearly new patterns being tried out against Villarreal, particularly before we conceded and reverted to type a bit. Merino went out super wide to receive and looked to play it behind for Martinelli, who went up front alongside Gyokeres a couple of times. I'm hoping that as they bed in we'll see more enjoyable footie this season.

This is what we hope will happen. Gyokeres being up top creating space on the wings, and the defenders cannot solely focus on Saka. This makes both wings more dangerous, and then we still have VG in the middle to put away chances created by the wings or the overlapping fullbacks. Or even a quick ball up from Zubi or Ode (or hell, even Rice). It might take time to get just right, but the signs (and the pieces) are there to come up with multiple different styles of play depending on what the game needs. I do think this will be a tighter game because its the first game of the season, and both teams will be looking not to concede. That said, i think we have plenty of options to be able to do damage.

This fixture always worries me due to weird things happening at Old Trafford. On paper, we should dominate their midfield so I'm hopeful we get on the front foot from the start and dominate the first 15-20 minutes. My head says a 1-0 or 2-1 nail biter but my heart says 3-0 Arsenal with 2 Gyokeres goals to launch the narratives on Arsenal finally finding their striker.

Gyokeres score last week. So its 2 this week followed by a hat trick against Leeds. Then it'll crescendo with him doing an Arshavin and scoring 4 goals at Anfield.
