I don't think it's your Odegaard opinions that aren't popular. It's the sense that replacing him would improve the team, rather than improving the weaker parts around him that aren't popular. Those are some valid concerns, but it's arguable whether that is Odegaard's play or Arteta's instruction.
He's also evidently got a right side bias, and again, arguable that he should be doing more himself to correct that. But on the right side he's generally been working with a partnership in Saka/White who have strong chemistry and a high technical level in playing football the way Odegaard does. On the left he's got a player in Martinelli with a much different run-and-gun style compared to Saka/Odegaard, and and endless conveyor belt of left backs which has done no good for either the midfield or Martinelli in terms of developing partnerships and chemistry.
Maybe Eze solves some of those issues. He either offers a more technical/creative balance to the left forward/midfield positions, or somewhat balances Odegaard's right-side bias.
I don't question the need for someone of Eze's attributes in the left midfield/wing area, but I question the squad building that had got us here. In the last two years we've spent £100m on Rice, £30m on Merino, £60m on Zubimendi, £10m on Norgaard, and we're still looking at paying £50-60m on Eze because we don't have the right balance of attributes across the midfield. Of those players Merino looks the odd signing, disregarding his stellar striker phase last season, but we've paid £100m for Rice and we're talking about bringing Eze in a for more than half that again because Rice seemingly doesn't give us what we want/need there. I love Rice as a player and I'm not being critical of him or his skillset, but at times I have a hard time reconciling what the midfield is supposed to be, and he's a big part of that.
If Odegaard acted and behaved like Bruno, absolutely.
