While its true he had his moments this season, that penalty was one of the worst i have seen. I fucking HATE the stutter stop bullshit, and he did it all the way up to the ball, and hit it with no conviction at all. We've all seen him, he can wallop the ball, thats the pen he shouldve taken.

USArsenal I don't think anyone is a fan of the stutter stop technique because it always looks worse when it doesn't come off, but I assume players go with what works for them and they're most comfortable with in that pressurised moment.

I assume the point of the stutter is to stop the doubt a player might have of the goalie guessing right and saving which can lead to them also messing up the normal run up pen 😢

Penalties are all mental and pressure at the end of the day. Going second heaps the pressure on even more. It is what it is. Wasn't to be.

We still have more to celebrate this season than we have had for 22 years! 🥰

Don Pacifico yeah clearly the moment got to him although I wonder whether that technique gives you more chance to fuck it as it doesn't have a smooth momentum. Anyway I have an issue with players not hitting the target, if your fearful I understand that but you can shift the aim a bit further in the post. A lot of times the keeper still lets them in when it's on target and at least you force him to stop it if they do save it.

As for Eze, he did himself no favours and if you take a nonchalant penalty in that manner and miss, you just have to accept that you will get it in the neck.

daredevil I'll need to watch again but even looks like the keeper initially moved in the direction he hit in, like you say it is taken to confuse the GK but you can end up confusing yourself.

I'm a fan of the stutter run up because the goalkeeper gives away the direction they're going to go in and then you just go the other side. The reason it didn't work is because Safonov didn't flinch and then Eze likely panicked and over hit it wide.

I am in complete disagreement with you on this. I understand the reason behind it, i just prefer a player putting their foot through the ball. If you put it to a corner with some power, a keeper isnt likely to reach it anyway.
