I'm fine with how Eze is going. As we saw with his match-winning NLD performance, his availability will very likely bring us points during the season. I can see his ability deciding European knockout matches as well.
There's very intense competition for that left wing spot and it's clear Martinelli is preferred to Eze defensively to close out matches. As he should be because Martinelli puts in world class effort pressing and tracking back. As for swapping out Ødegaard, he was delivering a man of the match performance.
So much for the rationale for Eze not being used. Separate to that rationale, I don't like Arteta's use of our bench. For the second week in a row I felt we should have pressed on with more aggression. Given we have no players in outstanding scoring form I guess it's understandable. There may also be an analysis grounded in the stats of these situations that is pretty compelling.
