It’s all good saying the manager doesn’t use some players properly but they have to earn the right to play. Right now Ode is doing better than Eze and deserves to keep his spot. If your Eze you will get a chance in the next few games, make sure you impress. Simple.

Eze needs to be more involved, I think he has better end product compared to Odegaard but he seems to drift out of games a lot whereas Odegaard is more involved. Clearly something Arteta has seen to drop him, not like he was performing that well in the games he played.

The only way I see Eze working for us right now is as part of a double false 9 the way he did v Spuds. Minimal defensive duties except pressing, drift around the pockets, be closer to goal more often.

If we're gonna get the best of Eze we need a 4-2-2-2.

Eze should be worried about losing his place in the England squad. That should put a light up his ass to play with urgency when he gets chances.

I'm fine with how Eze is going. As we saw with his match-winning NLD performance, his availability will very likely bring us points during the season. I can see his ability deciding European knockout matches as well.

There's very intense competition for that left wing spot and it's clear Martinelli is preferred to Eze defensively to close out matches. As he should be because Martinelli puts in world class effort pressing and tracking back. As for swapping out Ødegaard, he was delivering a man of the match performance.

So much for the rationale for Eze not being used. Separate to that rationale, I don't like Arteta's use of our bench. For the second week in a row I felt we should have pressed on with more aggression. Given we have no players in outstanding scoring form I guess it's understandable. There may also be an analysis grounded in the stats of these situations that is pretty compelling.

I'm not going to comment on his minutes or Artetas reluctance to bring him on in tight situations.

I did find his demeanor and appearance on the bench to be somber today even when celebrating our goals. There must be something up that we're not seeing or hearing about. I'm surprised no one is talking about it in the media too considering we paid 65 big ones for him and his spot in the England lineup is in jeopardy

Eze should focus more on his wing game. In midfield you need to certain level of proactive-ness to impose yourself on the game, which is not his strength. on the wings he can get away with being a bit more passive, hold his position and when he gets the ball, he can do his thing, which is generally quite positive..

As a winger he should model himself on Ribery, know when to come in and when to go wide.

Ray I'd say he's more similar to Grealish than Ribery

Think Grealish also played central for Villa before joining City

Our wingers have to be defensively turned on and put in serious work though. Traits which Eze hasn't shown in his time here

Maybe came on here during the summer, read some of the comments and now believes he is. Ronaldinho MKII apparently.

Had my doubts about him and couldn't quite see the fuss. Still, early days and he hasn't been played much. We'll see.

Wonder if Arteta is having a bit of buyers remorse over Eze.

That said he doesn’t miss often with transfers. It’s probably a case of figuring out the best way to utilise him.

I'd like to see a midfield three of Rice - Odegaard - Eze more often, especially if the back four are all healthy and the game's deadlocked. The Liverpool match was calling out for it. Keeping on two DMs against a low block is pointless because our back four is dominant against counter-attacks.

Rice is not strictly meant to be a DM, but in the bigger games he's timid and coy and offers very little in the final third. Keep him on for his physicality and athleticism and hope Odegaard and Eze can offer a bit of extra magic.

Dom Rice isn't a DM and Zubi is definitely better in that position. I wouldn't mind seeing Eze and Ode together more but it should be when Rice is rested.

Tactics

Qwiss Im not a fan of Rice at 6 but he can do a job

We have played a midfield 3 of Rice-Eze-Ode this season and I'd like to see more of it
