A couple of reports are mentioning the respect between Parish and Tim Lewis as key to this deal. That and Berta's crew working hard to make friends with Eze's crew.

I've said it before, but Lewis's involvement with Arsenal, initially to turf out Sanllehi, is what marks the Project™ and matters taking their prolonged upturn at Arsenal.

If Lewis is still on the ground setting up deals with the likes of Parish, this man's our fucking Messiah. Never leave, Tim.

Klaus yeah, a couple of years ago Channel 4 ran a 4 part series on the Palace academy (as it happens, literally five minutes from my front door) and he spoke really well there too. It's been nice to read about his relationship with Tim Lewis, a welcome change from the years when our execs just seemed to piss the rest of the league off!

Gazza M Grealish was a great dribbler at Villa but he was never half as inventive as Eze to be fair. Always a simpleton, both as a person and a player. Thankfully I find it unlikely that Eze would ever stoop to that level of shithousery.

We see White offer more of a traditional overlap, but will that be encourage of MLS (doesn't seem his game) or Califiori?

While in the early build-up Eze may stay wide with Calafiori/MLS inverting into midfield, I think once we force the teams into a deep block, Eze will come more central and even interchange positions with Rice at times, which will leave more space for Calafiori to exploit out wide.

The prospect of Eze, Calafiori/MLS and Rice combining on the left like we're used with Saka, Timber/White and Odegaard doing it on the right already makes me feel like the team is so much better balanced. Add Gyökeres to both equations and hopefully the outcome will result in loads of scoring chances for us.

Or Arteta may instruct Eze to hug the touchline in a classic Haramball™ fashion. We'll see.

MistaT I think we should adjust Rices role if Eze is on the left wing. Otherwise they'll be on top of each other. More so when Cala plays than MLS because MLS slides into Decs midfield role when he's in there. I do think Eze and Calafiori together may require a bit more from the midfield to cover the left back area though. At least until they find the balance. I quite like the idea of Rice being slightly more conservative and allowing Odegaard get involved in the attack more anyway but with Eze who'll get on the ball more than Martinelli it makes even more sense.

It's going to be very frustrating this season not getting calls for blatant fouls on Eze. He'll be kicked like Saka.

I've just fired up a new CM 01/02 game managing Palace. I might have to start again and add Eze as a player.

Honestly this signing, if it happens, will be the one that puts the biggest smile on my face this window by a long way.
