daredevil disagree as recently shown with Fofana by all accounts it fell through because Arteta doesn’t rate him. Which didn’t give Berta the ammunition he needs to close the deal.

Whereas with guys and defensive signings which Arteta rates and encourages, Berta closes.

I agree with Arteta’s decisions for what it’s worth, but for offensive signings he doesn’t place as much importance as he does with the defensive ones.

Ray I think the club works within ranges for players, if a player goes outside that range they'll walk away. If you look at Bruno and Konsa, both signings were probably around £10m more than the figures we were briefing publicly. So that was probably within acceptable margin. Now if you look at Rogers, talk was we wanted to pay around £80m but happy to go up to around £95m - £100m. He ended up going to £117m and if we had gone to that figure what if Chelsea had gone even higher? They did with Mudryk and pushed that fee into crazy high levels.

JazzG agree but I think if the RB position for example had been gutted the same way LW has been gutted Arteta would probably go on strike unless the club spent another 60m minimum on a fullback.
Whereas he seems pretty content to shift Eze to the left and make do when it comes to the attack.

neutral on berta now. last summer was good, this summer was a fumble - which seems to be self-admitted by the club before people start rowing in about being pessemistic/impatient. I dreamed of a summer that could establish the long prophesised 1000 year arsenal reich. but thats not the arsenal way.

Last summer was shit, this summer was ok but the part of it that was shit was the same as last summer which elevates the shitness of this summer significantly..

Haven't changed my opinion that this guys is a fraud when it comes to telent ID.. hopefully he will stick to negotiations.

Could at least of kept Nwaneri man, bummed out tbh.. thinking about what I'm going to get excited for watching us this season.. either a mad Odegaard resurgence or an Eze revelation on the left, both really unlikely.. love that we are champion but the moment to moment enjoyment of watching us last season was... a struggle.. feel I am less and less willing to give up my free time as I get older for things I don't enjoy... hopefully we more good footy this season.

Very unimpressed at the mess this guy created in the summer. Became an unwitting patsy for Vinicius Jr's agency and then wasted a few weeks sniffing around a striker who doesn't want to play in the PL. Our forward line is now slower and less skilful than it was last season following the departures of Trossard (who, at his best, was still one of the league's best wingers) and Martinelli.

I thought it was interesting yesterday Arteta bluntly said he had been completely ignoring anything to do with transfers for the last few days. I thought it was a hint he's not happy with what's happened either.

One of our forwards is injury prone and our main winger is injury prone who we have to rely upon even more now

Spinning plates ended up playing hard to get with a bunch of 9/10's and ended up at night all alone

Since Arteta joined the club his signings for the front 3 have been Willian, Jesus, Trossard, Gyokeres, Madueke and Tzolis. All whilst spending large amounts on defenders and midfielders with added depth in those areas too. This isn’t a new phenomenon, Arteta just places less value and importance on the front 3 compared to the rest of the team and it’s worked tbf.

i don't believe less emphasis was placed on attack this summer, it's that berta talked up too many girls at the disco without closing the deal

When you're buying to win NOW with konsa and bruno it's utter negligence to leave the attack exposed

Saka gets injured? we're left with a bunch of average slop in the front 3 and too much to expect max to carry a pl title threat....same saka who gets overplayed to injury now even more indispensable....kai injury prone too....madueke will give a cb's contribution on the wing.....tzolis like i said high's of coventry to low's of villa - too early to judge either way but to have that punt be a first choice when he was supposed to be a rotation (at least to begin with) is a sackable offence....berta has played the under-dog card at atletico when barca/madrid are the big dog's and he's supposed to get value in the market while getting a certain quality (not the top level player but players beneath that - Note: Greizmann was not an assured thing coming from sociedad and alvarez was a city bench player) the expectations he has from Arsenal NOW are bigger than he ever did at atletico....and he doesn't seem attuned to managing at this level so far....

I can't believe the club didn't have a clear strategy to pivot from Rogers, they let barca have a free run on Gordon, then when chelsea gazumped us, let's be honest the vinicius and alvarez chances were minimal at best....what a shitshow

Failing to bring in a quality LW is a failure. I really think Barcola would have been perfect for us after Vini turned us down. Yes, we would have "overpaid" but that is simply what you have to do in this market.
