Klaus I just figure you guys are chatting shit most of the time to have something to talk about, because there's no way these are your actual opinions. We nearly pulled a league/CL double last season and all I read week in and week out was absolute nonsense on here. We've just followed it up by signing one of the best midfielders in Europe and people are still angry we didn't sign a scrub like Rogers. How utterly boring.

Summers are terrible. Just people reading made up or incomplete stories, and then criticising teams for not fulfilling these ITK click bait fantasies. And in the process you can ignore that we ignore that we will likely have the 2 best CMs in the league (to go with the two best CBs) if Rodri leaves.

He was pretty good at pressing. Better than advertised in that aspect.

RowJimmy I agree we needed more depth in the squad and last summer's signings achieved that. But there are two reasons I find it hard to attribute too much praise to Berta for that:

Arteta had been speaking publicly for about a season (maybe more) of the increasing need in modern day football for deep squads. So as an initiative, I see it as less a strategy designed by Berta and more a directive from the manager.
Achieving squad depth by itself is a really basic task for a DoF. It's literally just buying any players to make up the numbers. Unless I'm missing some nuance, I'd see that as something any sporting director could do. Which is why I think it's important to assess the quality/effectiveness of individual signings.

He's shit and people think he's going to magically step up a level, he's a few month off saka in age turning 25 soon, he isn't some prospect - Competent backup I hear? What is competence? Dribbling past one or two players? His end product is shocking and his defensive work is equally poor. You take 10-15m more and could have got Semenyo, Cunha, Mbuemo etc.

Let's not pretend Kai was some stroke of genius too - He was brought in to replace xhaka in midfield and then when the rice-ode-xhaka stuff wasn't working, he got another life at CF as jesus was perpetually injured

Saying that only one other striker in 3 years moved that's better than Kai is equally laughable and delusional - Joao Pedro, Ekitike, Alvarez (Who i don't particularly rate but a better forward than Kai for sure) among quite a few others

Injury prone, inconsistent, unreliable finisher - at 300k a week not even sure we'd recoup much money for him

Rogers and Barcola are/were the two best options on the market. We're not getting either so it's over in terms of potentially upgrading the LW. All hinges on Tzolis now.

daredevil I remain annoyed we didn't sort the Rogers deal out when we had the chance at £100m. In this market he's worth it. If we were sitting here with Rogers and Bruno now we'd be a defensive back up away from a quality summer.

Qwiss yeah it's sounds like he was what we wanted I don't think haggling is worth it. After the fact it was presented we wanted Vini actually but that was always a 5% shot and we should have gone with the more likely chance.

Don Pacifico this I don't get it, if you think Trossard wasn't great in terms of his impact/role within the team and why we need to replace. I don't know what you must make of the other wingers who were all behind him the attack will be even worse in that case
