Qwiss The big sides are starting to do one each per summer.
Right, this was my very first point up thread and I agree. But they're starting to do one each per summer, which means that once they've shot their shot (or at the outside, two shots) in a given window, they're done.
The encouraging aspect City and Chelsea digging deep on the fees for Anderson and Rogers … two players few of us are fully convinced would have been game-changers at Arsenal … is that they're not competing with us on Vinicius now. I reckon Chelsea had the incentive to go early and decisively on Rogers because of our growing clout and appeal in the market, whereas we have delayed our effort to get him for the same reason.
As for LW I think we can do something different if we can't get Vinicius. I'm unconvinced Rogers would've been a decisive upgrade on Martinelli there, but on the other hand he would've been a more versatile option than Gabi and maybe been able to rotate Rice, which would've been very helpful … but then we're chasing Bruno with that in mind and he's a better mid than Rogers.
The late action from Arsenal in the market is symptomatic of our bigger pull and power in the market …
