Doesn't seem like Sporting have been working that way. Seems we've "reached agreement" at least once, only to discover new demands.

When there's little trust it's no longer worth much to concede to the latest round of brinkmanship.

Sporting certainly want the money on the table and United are no competition. We can privately run our alternatives again, and be ready to walk away. As far as Sporting and Gyökeres are concerned, we can delay the transfer at which point pressure starts to move to Varandas.

invisibleman18 I don’t think that’s true at all. I don’t see what Madueke has to do with this. Both clubs clearly agreed on valuation and payment structure quickly, so the deal went through quickly.

It doesn’t seem like there is much of a gap on valuation it is sporting who are changing the terms of the deal and asking for payment structure to change. They’ve supposedly got a history of doing this and not an easy club to deal with.

Don Pacifico We've got a strong hand here if we're on the same page as Gyökeres and he understands as much of our strategy on the deal as he needs to. If his dad and his agent start playing mind games, things could change.

If it's true Gyökeres' agent has forgone most of his fee, it puts us in an awkward position as far as raising our offer goes. I assume he agreed to that in part because we claimed we had no room to move.

I've been involved in plenty of negotiations where the selling party keeps shifting the terms and asking for more, or changing things. You can agree to some but there comes a point where you have to say enough's enough. I, like the rest of us here, have no idea what negotiations have taken place, but it sounds like Arsenal have reached that point.

Asterix They know we need a striker and they also know our fans will probably have a complete meltdown so they are using that to play hard ball.

We should have a limit to where we go, like we did with Sesko if the player is above that then walk away.
