Sicario2 it's an interesting theory but if the announcement the guy is leaving and that is deemed as impacting the stock market it's going to impact price whenever it gets announced not forgetting that most shares try to front run news they likely already priced in the guys going I'm not sure the price considerations would be the factor.

Looks like Sporting are dicking around Hjulmand in a similar fashion right now. Like Gyökeres he apparently got reassurances that he could leave for a set fee last summer if he stayed put. Hjulmand seems to think they have an agreement for €50 million, Sporting are blocking his move to Juventus because they demand +€60m.

Sporting are apparently being complete fucking dickheads about every transfer that they once agreed to. They will end up getting money for Gyokeres, but they are showing every other club (and all of their players) that they have no problem moving the goal posts. And it will ensure that every player that signs for them will want a WRITTEN guarantee that they can move at a specific price if that bid comes in. Talk about negotiating in bad faith.

What is “real”? What is “happening”? What is “Viktor Gyökeres”?

Despite the evidence above of rigorous journalistic research, I don’t really know much about Gyökeres beyond the stuff everyone knows. I have no great interest in whether he signs for Arsenal or not until he actually does, at which point he will become just another guy in an ever-shifting cast of guys, something real that now has to actually happen. Reality can wait, though. We aren’t there yet. We are instead still drifting along in the endless summer of Gyökeres, witnesses to a yearning that feels like art, and that is in many ways better than actual football.

One of the positive achievements of the hot Gyökeres summer seems to have been forcing Barney Ronay to confront the fact he's not actually a football writer.
