Gurgen wouldn’t say he is improving. His best game for us was first half v Burnley , hasn’t hit those heights. Some of the chances he missed v Brighton were terrible.

He’s need an open play goal badly. Seems like a confidence player. Jesus is just a way better footballer than him albeit inconsistent.

It's a real shame that second header didn't fly into the top left corner. You feel the opening goal in a match of that magnitude, infront of the home crowd, had the potential to be a springboard to a much better second half of the season for him.

It's a positive he's getting the chances though but he really heeds to start finding the back of the net with some of them.

Much improved the last 2 games. Should have scored that first header yesterday but overall he was involved and as Gurgen says he's starting to get more chances. It'd be short sighted to give up just as he looks like he might catch fire. I'd be at least waiting until we had a fully fit Kai who was looking in form before I'd be demoting Vic.

Qwiss the only currency for a striker is goals. If Jesus scores again from the bench its game over for VG.

Sicario2 you'd need to be very silly to think scoring in a game thats already 3-0 when the Villa defence had completely opened up is enough to think Jesus should be starting.

Qwiss I've been wondering for the last couple of games whether Vik might benefit from coming on fresh in the last 20 to bully a tired defence - there's definitely been a couple of games recently where he's been hooked just as things were starting to open up for him. The issue is, of course, we'd need someone for the first 70 minutes. I don't think Jesus is there yet.

RocktheCasbah this is why I said wait until Kai is up to it. We know he can do a solid 60-70 minutes (at least before the injury) so if he can get back to 100% and Gyok still isn't free scoring then you switch it up. One of Havertz biggest issues was running out of juice late on too so rotating between the 2 would be enough I think.

Qwiss Not sure what that’s based on. We’ve looked at our best with Merino at CF this season. We’ve been carrying Gyökeres — yes, it’s nice he pushes defenses back a bit with his runs, but he has overall been a very ineffective player.

I think the Gyokeres 65/Jesus 25 combo we currently have is working well. Their contrasting styles cause the defences issues and I think Jesus is benefitting from coming on and giving his all for 30mins a game.

Get the feeling Jesus will maintain better form and confidence "knocking on the door" than if we make him a starter. He seems to find responsibility threatening.

CPM missed Sunderland and Chelsea, games we probably win if he's fit. Only managed 45 minutes against Villa the first time because he wasn't fit. All games where we looked below our usual selves. Since he's gotten his fitness back we are on a winning run again.

Qwiss We scored twice against Sunderland and attacked very well in the second half, certainly enough to win. And Merino scored against Chelsea, who played us like it was their CL final. Don’t see the point for either of those games tbh.

Sicario2 that screen cap is misleading, they weren't marking him. Watch the goal again, there was one player on him and the others converged on him as he went through on goal (albeit the guy marking him had already cleared it by the time the others got to him).

Sicario2 they picked up on it in the post match as well. he did draw alot of attention there to open space for ode and rice.

It was a good play overall. Martinelli winning a header somehow, Gyok absorbing everyone with his touch, Odegaard placing the pass well then Rice finishing it off.

Gyok didn't pull them all to him but he was still key to the goal happening
