Gurgen it really is. I was actually half jokingly wondering if my 40 year old self couldn’t offer Arsenal more from a first touch perspective. He’s been here a full season - I expect him to be much better than he showed last season, after all he did come in with big player, big personality energy at his unveiling.

Instead he comes on and gives us a worse 10 minute cameo than his previously shit 10 minute cameo.

Praying for health for Kai, else we are in for another slog of a season upfront. The CF position is currently the biggest drop off in level in the whole squad.

I know he hasn't played in weeks but his entire appearance today was shit. No pressure on defenders, no first touch, passing was shit and his entire body language was umbothered

Moreso than the bad touches, his lack of intensity and pressing was my biggest issue with him. He did exactly what Jesus was doing last season, came on and just strolled around off the ball.

Hopefully, it's not a case of him no longer being bought in, as we will need him this season.

tazmania he pressured them plenty, got on the long balls that were going straight to Chelsea and played a lovely flick to Tzolis that he didn't capitalise on. It was 10 minutes of football too, his first of the season. The moaning on here about him is both predictable and as usual hugely exaggerated.

No doubt he's still processing the fact last season will probably be the biggest of his career having been offered around to other clubs over summer. Might struggle for the same motivation and commitment, he's an emotional guy.

His touch was poor today. I was watching him in the training videos during the week and he seemed so much slicker and quicker of mind on the training pitch. I wonder if there’s a confidence issue there, though I fully expect a bit of rustiness following his busy season last year, World Cup exertions and lack of minutes so far this year.

In his defence I do think he is one of those players who can’t just come in and switch on when needed. Some players need games and minutes to get going so we need to give him that

There was talk all summer of his camp speaking to clubs and us willing to trade if we could get someone in.

Dude has main character energy is struggling to cope with the fact that he's a squaddie now. He'll 100% be sold in the summer or maybe even January if we find a replacement.

Let's hope his head doesn't drop too much though as we'll need him for the CL and cup games.

He’s always going to be in over his head in big games, doesn’t have the technical ability or physical advantages. Just hope he can contribute against the minnows until we replace him next summer.

To be fair to him he did have this nice touch, Tzolis with a dreadful pass to ruin the move.

I’ve been as vocal a critic of him as any and do want us to move on from him at our next opportunity but we need to make sure we give him minutes to at least stay somewhat sharp, as we cannot afford to run Kai into the red.

I think there’s a real spot for him as our main striker in Champions League league games, not including Bayern and Madrid. Those league games feature less low blocks and he’s always been more effective outside of the league. I also think he should be starting all cup games. That should give him like 8-12 starts before January. I’d start him at Napoli and at Ipswich in the next two weeks for CL and League cup. Hopefully that can get his confidence up as I do think there’s a role for him as a finisher against tired defenses but not if he’s going to be as poor as he was yesterday.
