Oh god, the whinging about Gyokeres' 10 minute cameo is so tedious in a game we had already won.

If we get another striker in, I'm pretty sure Gyokeres will only play Carling cup minutes and similar. He's possibly the worst option of a forward line that includes Martinelli and Madueke.

Don Pacifico it's what it is. He's not going to improve technically at this stage. His value is not going anywhere but down. Similar to Madueke. These guys are sunk costs. We needed bodies to pad up the squad last season, and they served that purpose. Well done.

The goal now is to fill up from the top and push out at the bottom.

Well it's a good job we didn't sign Gyok to Xabi Alonso passes in midfield then isn't it? If we're talking isolated moments, I'd rather think about him being where he needed to be on the pitch against Everton away to claim a massive 3pts.. but that's just me.

I'd accept gyok only playing cup matches this season. It'd mean someone else is doing really well in the league. Good squad depth

He’s aiite - we’re able to win the league with him and there’s no real outstanding options upfront. Bear in mind there were a bunch of strikers that moved last summer too and Gyokeres outperformed them on the pitch through goals or just by being available.

That was hardly a difficult pass to make for a professional footballer. You don't have to be Xabi Alonso or even a midfielder to complete that. Fresh on the field, good runners around you. He's just a mid player. We should expect better from our main striker. I don't think that is a controversial statement.

At the very least we need to make him take 14 off his back, and stop desecrating the number.

One thing to note is that since Havertz has been available, I think it's clear Arteta doesn't consider Gyokeres to be first choice.

Don Pacifico I don't think it's clear at all. Havertz had the nod in the Champions League final and perhaps one or two other games, but there's not a strong weight of evidence either way around it. The numbers in terms of minutes/appearances would suggest it's Gyokeres, but that doesn't necessarily recognise the fact Havertz was still coming off a long lay-off.

Which brings me to the point, he can only be number one if he's fit. At the moment we can't rely on him any more than Timber, White or Calafiori.

It was quite obvious that is the case but some people don't want to see it. He starts over him because he is a much better player.

Tam Timber and Calafiori played way more than him last season. We're in serious danger of relying on Gyokeres and Merino again for a long stretch of the season.

I don't rate this man highly, but in a team where basically nobody else is scoring double figures, this guy saved our bacon last year. If you can find me someone who will either score or create those goals, I will let him go. But it's not like he came and had a wank at the halfway line all season

Claudius there absolutely has to be a replacement. No point selling him without having another warm body that can stay fit.
