I was saying all of last season that if you want touchline wingers then it makes more sense to have wingers playing on their natural side so they can cross. A Vicente makes more sense in this system than a Martinelli who is crossing with his weaker foot.
The problem is that since the false 9 and inverted wingers took the game by storm, football doesn't produce touchline wingers anymore who play on their natural side. So it will require reforming someone. As much as I can see the concept, Arteta is galaxy braining again. Just buy a left winger who can cut inside and go wide effectively instead of pinning your hopes on converting Madueke.
Nonetheless, Gyokeres being a true 9 will be very reliant on service so we need better crossing from out wide. Looking at the highlights of the game, Martinelli and Saka kept missing him when crossing.
