It's not easy man - so I have sympathy. Football has been experiencing a drought regarding strikers for a long time. Liverpool probably recognising this and being greedy cunts bought two and they're both totally fooked.

PSG bought Ramos and Muani for like 150m and neither are first team starters - and the guy who turned out to be a great striker was Dembele who had spent his entire career playing as a winger and totaled a magical 4 league goals in his debut season. We need something left field like that.

I have some sympathy because Gyokeres was the gunman of Europe and he turned out to be so poor on the ball and not really that great a finisher either. All the options I see are so mediocre man - the best striker that moved last summer was Joao Pedro who almost no-one thought could be that guy.

This trend has been ongoing since the Morata, Lukaku and Lacazette summer. There's just so many trash strikers around. Haaland and Mbappe were two obvious talents - Dembele being converted to a striker was a masterstroke and the fall from there for the new generation is shocking.

I'd even take Endrick at this point and find a system that suits him.

Most annoying thing about this signing is that I would have genuinely preferred signing no one and gave his minutes to Nwaneri instead of loaning him out which has turned into a bit of a disaster.

Doc yep. Nwaneri came into the team at 17 last season and was much better. Max anytime he comes on looks better. Why did we bother with this? It's like Willian being ahead of Saka all over again.

Madueke was performing like this at Chelsea what is wrong with our attacking recruitment that not only can they not see it they overpay for that level of quality. I don't have any faith in Arteta or the current staff they clearly don't understand attacking technical quality and have had numerous years of bringing in low quality. They need to be not involved or maybe your bullshit negotiable are wrong. The only player who delivered something for Arteta and gave him the time to be here had that quality and he drove that out of the team.

If only there was some way we could have known in advance but the lure of what Chelsea throw out is too much. Who we should actually try and get from them is the person who organises the sales from their bins.

I think the biggest difference these days is that we don't have one of them.

The problem I have with defending Arteta's attacking transfers: except, maybe, Vieira the players I listed were widely recognised to be soft, shot shy, weak or too old. Arteta tried to be a smart alec. Thought he could miraculously turn back time on Willian and Sterling and thought Jesus, Madueke and Havertz being proven wastrels in front of goal could be concealed by their other skills.

I'd be more forgiving if the money was spent on trying to unearth a couple of gems rather than wasting a quarter of a billion on midtable or below level players.

There were tons in the 90's but teams played with two up top - so that made sense.

It dropped in the mid 2000's when teams moved to a single striker system. Less demand, less supply.

Fell even further in the 2010's when false 9's and wide scoring wingers became the craze.

Now we're kind of stuck in the aftermath of that where the strikers role is still up in the air. Do teams want a false 9 or a true striker and there's still strikers of both types around - but I just don't see the quality and yeah we have absolutely made our bed with the wrong ones.

But even the ones we want/wanted as dream targets - namely Isak, Sesko and Alvarez have massive issues.

daredevil yup. Game has very different profiles. A bunch of ball players, who are eventually given permanent roles later in life. Look at all the players in our team except maybe Gabriel. They’ve mostly had to chang roles post the age of 16 at some point.
