TambourineMan Fair enough, but pretty much every Arsenal signing we revere has improved under Arsenal conditions. There was and is plenty about Madueke to suggest he should be a great player ... he just isn't.

Those of us, me included, who supported taking a punt on him weren't idiotic for doing so. The price tag seems high but it's ballpark these days considering what Eddie, Balogun, etc go for, and the wages were reported as far more modest than usual. We'll go through this again with the next forwards we go after. In the current market any forward who might be top tier is £50m but the spread of English haramball means every one of them is a gamble.

He definitely isn't living up to his price tag but didn't think he was terrible either. Been very up and down this season, has looked great at times but then terrible!

JazzG he's not contributing anything meaningful that's a big problem. Something that was apparent from his time at Chelsea and he's just showed that's his level. I think we should be looking to cut our losses on him in the summer.

Gazza M I don't think people are haters if they had issues with what his level of performance was at Chelsea and as a result didn't feel he was the right player to allocate such funds to. What we've seen is exactly the player he has been for a while.

Just want to point out that in the PL last season, 18 year old Nwaneri got double the goals Madueke got, double the assists Madueke got while playing 100 less minutes. And while playing with Merino, Martinelli, Trossard in the Odegaard role as the whole team was injured. Maybe the Merino part is a plus, as he is by far the best striker at this club...

I don't even think I agree with the idea that there is a player somewhere in Madueke. I think the price we paid for him could get you a bagful of tricky wingers that can skin 2 men on the trot (2 out of the the 10 times they try) and then do absolutely nothing with the ball after.

He's rubbish. Chelsea let him go for a reason. Criminal waste of money.

Saka has been poor relative to his own standards. Yes. Still not worse than Madueke has been. Madueke meanwhile is good in your eyes because he's meeting his very low expectations. Doesn't change the fact that they have the same level of output this season pretty much.

I'd also add that Saka gives us much more general play, we'd certainly have found it a bit easier to keep the ball with him on the pitch on Saturday. Furthermore - and I know some of you have limited tolerance for this - Saka's defensive work is much more committed than Noni's more casual approach - as we also saw on Saturday.

This is what gets me. Martinelli and Trossard have games where they aren't firing in attack but they'll both always put in a shift. Whites clearly struggling and playing him and Madueke together on the right is just way too weak at the moment.

RocktheCasbah it's crazy right? He's praising Madueke but shitting on Saka and Martinelli even though the former is just on another level completely and the latter is out producing him by some margin (Martinelli is on 11G/6A in 2,020mins = 117 mins per G/A by the way).

And as you said that's on top of everything else the do for the team by sacrificing their energy in attack ny defending as hard and fast as they usually do. What was it that Sicario said some time back? That he despite his lack of end product he likes Madueke because he always tries and never gives up even when things aren't going his way. If that isn't what Saka and Martinelli have done over the last 4 years then I must be seeing things.

Even Trossard, as much as he scares us by trying to dribble near our own box, is out there busting a gut to get back, making slide tackles on the edge of our own box against Sporting last time out.
