to you his greatest value is keeping saka fresh when fresh saka isn't providing anything either. we need to sign players who can bench starters, not keep them fresh. olise cost the same as madueke and that's a player that could bench saka, not just keep him fresh.

last summer looks different given what we've seen. bar zubmendi, none of the new signings have really delivered. I was bearish on madueke from the outset but his attitude and application had started to turn my opinion, but im still largely of the same opinion that the madueke would've been better spent elsewhere

He's been absolutely shit in the PL and only a brace really against 3rd rate brugge is the one highlight of his time here

Should be palmed off before we get into a situation where we he'll be costing us his fat contract for 3-4 years

I think it's pretty silly to have any real takes on the basis of a game like this but, for what it's worth, Madueke wasn't even the most expensive summer signing who played today and had a few dribbles with 0 goals and 0 assists.

Saka is Noni.... but with goals and assists and first touch and dribbling and everything that makes a great winger. Noni can run fast and get by players so he has something

Noni can get by players at times.....and the same can be said for adama traore who cost 5m a couple of weeks ago

For 50-60m you're looking at Mbuemo, Semenyo territory not a player who simply does not contribute from a front 3 position

With him on the wing and Ode behind the striker, you have 1 league goal between them and then include any of our strikers none of them perfect or prolific and no wonder we struggle to score from open play

Mbuemo went for £65m rising to £71m. Madueke was £48m rising to £52m so a big price difference but your point about his lack of end product is valid.

I didn't watch the game today but while he does a lot of things well he needs to convert that into end product. Still I think there is something there and not going to rule him out, he was bought in as a backup player not a first teamer. Gives us a completely different option as we don't really have a super direct fast wide players.

While reemphasizing my point that it's pretty silly to have any real takes on the basis of a game like this, I don't think Eze really did anything all that different from what Madueke did today. Whether one chooses to conceptualize that as "good" or "bad" or somewhere in between is kinda neither here nor there to me. It's just interesting whose threads get ragebumped.
