Qwiss I think Arteta will want him to simplify his game and make it more efficient and intentional. I reckon he'll be told to dribble less and cut out the flicks and tricks. He's strong and can cross well, I'd imagine these are things Arteta is as keen on as his progressive carries.

You could be describing Martinelli's game relative to his. Crossing and chance creation is exactly what Gabi does more of than Noni.

Unless Arteta has changed his approach to coaching wingers, he's very precise to the point of offering ratios about the emphasis he wants in each player's decision-making (inside versus outside, shoot versus pass, specific passes to make etc).

Probably wants Madueke because he reckons he can squeeze an extra 30% out of him by telling him what to do.

I don't sit with the crowd that think Martinelli is some sore thumb in our starting 11 when it comes to quality, but if I'd ever imagined the calibre of player coming in and and ousting Martinelli from the starting lineup, I'd have envisioned someone alot better than fucking Madueke.

Nit that I think he should, but I said a while back that there is no way Arteta buys players for 50m to sit them on tbe bench. He's not being bought as a backup to Saka, he's being bought as a starter and that probably means LW and no other LW signing.

Anyways he's here so hopefully he proves useful.m and has a positive impact.

lorddulaarsenal it depends. Arteta likes to ride his first teamers. The only reason Trossard would occasionally be preferred was because of his much better end product (finishing), but his lack of pace was a problem which Madueke doesn’t have. Just add a bit more consistency to Madueke’s final third actions, and he’s got the position locked down I feel.

I guess others will have their own views on this, but for me signing an England international at the age of 23 for £50 mil doesn't seem that expensive when compared to United buying Mbuemo for £70 millions. Ultimately, gotta trust the talent ID and if all the chat around this move is true, then Madueke is coming here with something to prove which should benefit us..

But note that I’m usually right about a player needing to be upgraded or phased out. See Ben white/Timber, Ramsey/Cazorla, Kieran Gibbs /Monreal, Zinchenko/whoever, Ramsdale/raya, Aubameyang a season before he was frozen out, etc.

I’ll admit that it might be wishful thinking with Madueke though, as I haven’t even seen him play for us yet (and didn’t pay him much attention at Chelsea). However, his dribbling ability at pace is tops, and if he can clean up his decision making, I think it’s adeus Martinelli. Bench.

Sicario2 Bit overenthusiastic thread perhaps, but I kinda agree with the Raphinha similarities. Which is why Arteta, who runs the official Raphinha Fan club, went for him too I'm sure.

The only real issue with this signing has always been the fee, but as long as we have enough money to complete the transfers that will improve the starting eleven who cares honestly. I think this bloke is going to do well for us. He has a rare chance now to develop at a top club without too much pressure.

Sicario2 this twitter account is comically enthusiastic about every player we're linked to. his thread on sesko would have you thinking he's prime van Basten.

I don't see any raphinha comparisons. raphinha has always looked like a silky operator who was in control of his actions in the final third since his Leeds days. he was just inconsistent. madueke looks like he's mainly operating on vibes and adrenaline if he beats the first man
