banduan Yes, I've stated repeatedly what I think of Sporting's antics and their president. But it is a fact that we need a striker, and being able to prepare properly for next season is much more important than the bean counters at the club saving a couple of million on principle.
Part of being a big club is to make sure you're getting the right players, and not just at the right price: you overpay if you have to get them through the door. Arsenal are not acting like a serious club right now. We're at least two years late signing a proper striker, and yet this is where we are: throwing money on scrubs like Nørgaard and Madueke but refusing to give into Sporting over the add-on structure so we can get the most important signing of the summer in place.
I will say this though: part of the reason Sporting are being little bitches over this is because they find it hard to swallow that the market value isn't higher for a player of this calibre. They, just like everyone else in Portugal, know exactly how good he is and they know that they're getting shafted on a top class striker. They have a hard time coming to terms with it.
