Teenagers taking penalties in a friendly, it's all good. Just don't fuck a single thing up against Newcastle and Spurs kids.
Asterix He looks ready already. Whatever we're doing at academy level is working far better than it ever has before. Training with the first team seems to be a big part of it.
Good to see Dowman, Nichols and Salmon get solid minutes. Always exciting to see the young guns. I am a fan of Nichols but don't think he will make it here sadly.
They may have won the penalties, but it was pre planned, we won the actual game. lol. Thats the important part..
Actually none of it is that important in our first pre-season game.
Was Nichols decent guys? Didn't watch a thing. At the airport.
Bring Back Kerrea Gilbert he did Nic-hol
Saw the individual highlights of Zubimendi, Norgaard and Nwaneri - and I can't stress how much we miss a creative passer that can unlock a defence. Zubi has the highest capability of doing that alongside Ode but it's such a hole. It's also more pronounced because the left 8 options are a write off.
daredevil You consider Declan Rice a write-off?
daredevil I think we can get more of it from MLS this season. He's playing in midfield when we are in possession anyway and he does try those clever balls into the box a lot. Hopefully now that he has a season under his belt he can keep growing that side of his game and make up for some of what Rice and Merino lack in that respect.
RowJimmy write-off, no, but we need another serious option at 8 who's also a different profile. Him and Odegaard are by no means perfect.
Who is a creative passer that would fit the bill?
lorddulaarsenal eze
It was very ncie seeing Zubimendi in action. Bloke's gonna be a revelation. Find it hard to contain my excitement for Ethan and Dowman too; these guys are Wilshere-level talents.
Can't stress enough how shit Ødegaard's penalty was by the way. What the hell was that run-up?
Klaus What the hell was that run-up?
I have always hated his little jagged stutter runups to pennos.. run up to it and put your foot through the damn thing.
Klaus Zubimendi is mad good. Like truly mad good
Klaus there is no reason why Odegaard should be taking penalties for us in future. Saka, Gyo, Havertz are all top penalty takers.
USArsenal Right, it's 15 yards. Just put the boot through that sucker and it's nearly impossible for the keeper to get down in time no matter how badly you place it, especially a big bloke like Torriani.
Norgaard looked good too
Haven’t seen any of today but hearing Dowman was amazing. Like a new signing?
Sicario2 Haven’t seen any of today but hearing Dowman was amazing. Like a new signing?
He could have taken a shit in the centre circle and people would be saying he delivered a golden egg. He looked comfortable at this level and clearly has great technical ability but I'd leave the superlatives for when they are really warranted. I'd say he might get a few minutes here and there this season but won't be used otherwise.
He was really comfortable and confident. The fearlessness of youth. He was happy to take people on and try things. Popped up on the right and through the centre. It was a really impressive debut in the senior team. And he took a very good penalty to cap it all off.
Martinelli slander in full effect I see. If he'd done some of the bullshit Leão was up to....
Coombs who in their right mind wants Leao here these days?
Coombs just wanted him to do some of the non bullshit that Reiss Nelson was up to.
