City are a well run organization and do many things well. Their academy is particularly impressive. They've always been willing to sell anyone who expresses any unhappiness about playing time - I think this was Guardiola in particular, we'll see if that continues. But it's based on their ability to just keep buying players until they find the ones who fit and not worrying about needing to sell ones who don't.

Frankly wouldn’t mind selling Zubimendi as long as we make more than we spent on Guimaraes. He’s a good player but not special - I’d go out and get a proper Rice backup and put the rest into the Kroupi kitty.

Bernard Woolley i would also be fine selling Zubi at a profit and keeping MLS. Guimaraes can do everything that Zubi can do at a higher level. But MLS allows us to do interesting things withthe left side of the pitch, either as a CM or LB. I'm sold on the kid. If we need to monetize kids, then I would do Martinelli and Nwaneri in that order.

RowJimmy City usually sell well but Cole Palmer is a bad example. If Chelsea wanted to sell him after a year there they'd have doubled the money easily, they'd probably triple it now. Citys reluctance to trust youth cost them there.

Anybody suggesting zubi be sold, clearly hasn't seen last season when the same shit led to 2 players getting overworked to the point of exhaustion and anybody suggesting we sell him to get a replacement means -

1) Who is he?
2) How do we get him in within 1-2 weeks on top of the business we have to do?
3) We'd have to gel in 2 signings and make them work from the get-go because rice isn't starting the season

Some incredibly short memories here, for anyone lauding MLS he started 5 league games last season FYI (Not saying MLS should be sold but more in the context of Zubi playing each and every 38 games in the league and not getting his flowers)

He's come to a new league from a league that has lesser competitions and a winter break plus we went all the way to 2 finals - He was physically done even more so than rice and saka because of this

Gunner89 not every right winger will be able to teach him a lesson. so there are days we can deploy him like Zinchenko. Or he can play DM or even Left 8. You want combination of quality and versatility. When you're chasing a game, having the ability to take off your left back, drop MLS there and put on an AM or striker - that's a big advantage

He is a very competent in CM but he's no DM by any means - Look at all the pre-season games where he's had to play in that DM position due to the other players being on holiday and you'll see a team picked apart time and time again

We absolutely need both Zubi and MLS. In an ideal world where no one gets hurt, they still play a ton of minutes as rotation in the two CM spots in a season where we likely will play close to 60-70 games again. Arteta will have to rotate more this year or this team will fail and these two guys are crucial to keeping levels at or close to the standard of the starters. We needed another midfielder going into the summer if we weren't going to give meaningful minutes to Norgaard and now we have him - I don't see why we would then get rid of another one. Seems like someone with an agenda is putting this out but I have a hard time believing it's MLS or the club.

Qwiss he had when he left man city 19 appearances and 0 goals in the pl at the age of 21, was getting very little chances, would have got very few chances...which is why he wanted to leave....3 years ago a 42m fee is a 70m fee today, it's a heck of a lot of money when you consider that for a player who's not proven

Of course it has turned out well for Chelsea but that's a gamble they took and of course City's academy is the best in england so invariably some successes will come out that will leave

But just for context as I said for a 21 year old player with 19 top flight league appearances - would you pay 70m today and would that not be a gamble?

For context that summer - City sold jesus for 45m when he was 25 with about a 100 goals for them and even Raheem Sterling who was 27 then went for 47m

Personally Palmer had one great season but then been injury prone and inconsistent

daredevil yeah we sell badly because we sell rubbish or older players who have earned a smooth exit. Look at Trossard, we probably could have made double selling him last summer but we asked him to stay, paid him a bit more and it was worth keeping him. If we sell someone like Martinelli or Nwaneri that's when I'll judge the ability to get a fee because those are 2 players who should never be leaving on the cheap.
