Tactics Here’s a tactical insight from Adrian Clarke (why did he stop making videos for Arsenal.com?)
He does them on his own on youtube now.
Overall you are taking this as a personal dig at Odegaard and you shouldn't, we are just talking about things tactically. Its obviously on Arteta too. I don't think Arteta does want the amount of delay we've seen though, we didn't have when Eze was up there. At the end of the day this is real life not a video game, Arteta can't control players that much and he puts a lot of trust in Odegaard to make these decisions himself. I think you can see there is some change in Odegaard at times this season, especially before his injury but these take time and he's not had much chance to find his rhythm with the new players.
est The problem is players taking too long to do something with the ball(Odegaard being the prime culprit, but hardly the only one) and attackers standing static next to their markers.
You see that's where I disagree, as I said above I think these things are linked. If we move the ball forward through too many players it allows the opposition to close the gaps and makes it harder to find a pass through, that tends to lead to us in a situation where we are passing the ball from Saka, to Ode, to Dec, to Zubi to whoevers on the left that day and then back across again. That's when the horseshoe of misery comes in. If you want to get back to front quicker you need more players getting forward quicker. We ended up with everyone apart from Raya in the final 3rd at times against Wolves but we took our sweet time getting there. It causes less opposition issues than 5 getting up quickly and it makes you easier to counter.
