Qwiss This might be one of the compromises where we have to take a bit of short term pain for longer term gain. We need an Odegaard deputy, and it doesn’t look (and never has) like Merino should be the third man in midfield in addition to two players playing our 6 and 8 roles. Perhaps Eze will settle into the role, but if Nwaneri is being groomed for there longer term, we’re as well just giving him the opportunities Merino is (not) taking from him. He’ll make mistakes, might cost us here and there, but if we’re serious about wanting to see Hale End talent in the team then we need to accept that. The alternative to that, or Eze, is a complete change in style and structure which were never going to see from Arteta.
