Good tactical transfer. A "Trossard", if not at Jorginho's or the Belgian's level and a bit older. Considering his limits, I'd say he's been chosen so as not to "kill" Skelly, Nwaneri and Dowman, and unlike Trossard will understand up front he's coming as a fringe player.
Meanwhile he's one hundred percent league ready, has leadership qualities, and "Skelly can play there" (I don't think Skelly can play there at this level, but I'd back him to learn and he won't any other way).
Finally he's coming for less than the season's wages of one of our stars, allowing us to release Partey with relative confidence, giving us a chance, but not a need, to swoop on a properly elite misfit at the end of the window. This is a far cry from signing Denis Suarez.
