i actually like that he's a 15 year old ball hog playing with 17 year olds. he won't hog the ball with better players, he just knows his teams have a better chance if he's the one doing it. he passed a lot to chido last season.

The normal caveats definitely apply that its a youth game and there's a huge difference in the step up BUT I also keep reminding myself that he's playing 2 years up against kids that have had that development and is still dominating. Like Meatwad said, it's very encouraging that he has the confidence and belief in his ability to make the step up and take on huge levels of responsibility. I don't think he will play the amount of minutes that Nwaneri did this year but I hope we can get him some minutes next year in addition to him spending a full year with the first team and most importantly, the strength program. He stands out in every game I've seen highlights of thus far and is hitting every checkpoint thus far, which is definitely encouraging.

samthegooner he should reserve football next year, or whatever its called now but also some games in the League Cup. Its a shame with this new CL format because there could have been games for him there too if we could have gotten out of group early in the old system.

very much playground football where one player is just levels above the rest... encouraging obviously at his age but makes it hard to assess what the rest of his game is like..

Doc yes but his talents relative to other wonder kids at the same age is all to be seen.

I get why we are being cautious but we also should be excited that we have a potential generational player on our hands.

He isn't 16 until January...let's see how he does in pre-season but I'd be shocked if he got anything more than a few sub appearances next season.

Sicario2 it is, but these kids develop at different stages... I'm not knocking his potential, its up there... but like I said, its seeing what else he has to his game which becomes more apparent when he is actually challenged.

Qwiss I'd play him in the League Cup games and the FA Cup games because I don't think we should be prioritizing either of those competitions. But ideally we can start putting games away early and have some time for him at the end of a 3-0 win in the league too. Everything I've read from Arteta and players who have trained with him have said that he already looks like he belongs so if he's fitting in well in first team training, I'm all for giving him some minutes early in the year.

Pre-season will be a big opportunity and indicator on if he's going to get minutes this year, much like it was with Nwaneri last summer. If he's getting playing time in our pre-season games and looks good, I bet we see him more than we would think next year despite his youth.

I hate the term "Generational".. He isn't generational until he actually plays for the first team (not in preseason) and looks as quality and comfortable as MLS, Saka and Nwaneri have.

That being said, I do like Dowman.

USArsenal hrs a generational talent. He'll need a lot of hard work, focus and luck to become a generational player.

Oh, don't get me wrong, he's a huge talent.. And i would not even go as far as to say Ballon D'or... But let him light up the team and league/CL before calling him generational. As of now, he's just a huge prospect that has a chance of become a great first team player in the future.. The road is littered with 'generational talents' that didn't work out to be one.

I'll just say we have seen many 'generational talents' that have gone on to do fuck all. For myself, personally, generational means they are doing it against the big boys. But that's just my view of it. Supremely talented kid though. Looking forward to seeing if that translates into real results in the first team.
