I agree that the learning time is pretty limited now. He's been here 6 years been well financially backed and getting good recompense and power he can't hide behind being up and coming it's time to show some results. 5 games isn't the tipping point but as I say 10-12 games I think you can look at things.

In terms of his mistakes I think he is always too slow to change things either in game or realise when a way of playing or combination might not work. That is still what he does and there are still signs of it. It's reflected in the over controlling coaching we could see we missed improvisation and a bit more dynamism which means he has to let go a little but I haven't seen he's able to do that as yet.

But again it goes back to does a lazy 10 take more then they give to a team. And every manager at a top club thinks they do. They could all be wrong but probably not.

Errrr, not quite what I said. I think the end goal is obviously to win something, but if you get to 90 points, a Champions League final and you don't win anything, are you really sacking the manager? Maybe you do it on the basis that you've got this far and still haven't won anything, but it could be seen as very self defeating.

But I do understand that we can't have another season like last year's and also that I am but one person in a fan base of millions and, if we haven't won anything in a year's time, the noise around us - and Arteta specifically - will have become deafening.

I guess I might even think by then that with 7 years gone and millions of pounds spent, maybe - maybe - he'll have taken us as far as he physically could. But that's all a little way into the future.

I don't think Arteta fixes the team at half time like that 2 or 3 years ago. That's a realisation that it isn't working so hopefully he doesn't make that mistake again. Between this and the Liverpool match it definitely feels likes we've left some points behind due to selection and a lack of really going for it. We'll see at the end of the season if it costs us.

TambourineMan He also said Madueke had a niggle. But I think more than recognising an error in selection, his plan to not concede did not work and he realised we needed to score. Good news is last year he still would have waited 60 or 70 min to make the subs and worked to get there 0-1.

On the flip side, all the teams are terrified playing against us, even Pep. They're all happy with one point. That should make us go for it even more.

Sicario2 mate get over the support being overly critical. We are going for a league title and as recent history has shown us margins are tight.

Fair play. Though it's not all the fans just some. There are different mindsets here. To me, carping and sitting in heavy judgement of manager and players while our league campaign remains alive doesn't do Arsenal any good. It's even less fair when good players out of form or favour are getting publicly flogged.

But you doomers have been turning me into a bit of a reactive, passive-aggressive bore about this so I will have to just detach a bit.

Where is all this talk about Eze being lazy coming from by the way? We have autistic Merino and now Lazy Eze (though tbf it does have funny nickname ring to it).

Eze was playing for Crystal Palace and had some of the highest recovery numbers on his team and maybe even the PL and now he's being called lazy? All just to give a reason to justify why the manager didn't start him?

In all likelihood the real reason being Arteta just prefers having his Merino in midfield whenever anyone is out as a first replacement in, even more so in big games.

Big Willie Eze has 2 assists. Gyokeres has 3 goals. Martinelli has 2 goals and an an assist, Trossard has 2 assists and a goal, Zubimendi has 2 goals. These are the players people are worried about 6 games into the season.

I have a very controversial opinion that this fan base will never be ready for. Odegaard is injured right? Play Eze in his place for 3-4 games, a lot of people will hate what happens as Odegaard is a huge fan favorite

if it worked i wouldn't hate it. i'd love it. i'm tired of hearing about how much ode brings to our pressing game. fuck that. if we can actually play a 10 with defensive weakness and immense attacking strengths and we see less of rice around the box because he's in a double pivot being a defensive demon then all the better.
