Sicario2 I do yes. Due to level he’s had as playing at times over the last few years. I am concerned by how it’s gone recently and that he seems unable to instill true belief that we can get over the line.

awooga83 Of course I am worried, I have been saying it for months that our attacking play is simply not good enough and felt once we had all our players back things would improve but clearly they have not. Worrying that our defensive stability has gone as well.

What I worry most about is the number of injuries we are getting, it is simply not sustainable to keep going on like this. We have had a ridiculous number of key players out this season even with our large squad at times looked seriously stretched. I think this has contributed massively to some our players looking physically shot but Arteta is not helping the situation. Some players should have had more minutes like White and Norgaard and Arteta needs to take the blame there.

And if he fails and makes what I am assuming would be ignominious history - first to 4, FOUR second place finishes in a row + this time with what is widely regarded as the best squad in Europe, what should happen at his end of year review? Are we patting him on the back and saying good attempt, let's try again?

At what point will the players' unwavering faith begin to waver? When will the lads start to tune him out? The bridesmaid tifo is going to be unfurled again, ya know. What gimmick might he pull to motivate the group for another go around next season? Practicing against AI robot defenders?

If he doesn't win the league this season, what next? Only thing that can maybe salvage the situation is a champions league trophy. But I fear winning that will require even more mental strength and conviction than the league campaign would, so I'm not staking my savings on that either.

Is the FA Cup or league Cup, or even a double sufficient to allow him to keep the job?

If we take from 19/20, Arteta's first - albeit not full - season, the points tally of winners (and runners up) has been:

Liverpool shat the bed last year and we've come in with our own mess, but prior to that 90 points looked like an entirely appropriate metric for a team that wants to win the league.

Losing points to wolves and Nottingham Forest is criminal. Same with losing points to 10 man Chelsea, Sunderland in the last minute and Liverpool twice.

Checking city's remaining games, it honestly looks like an easier path than what we have left. It's still 100% in our hands so make it count but it would be nice to see city slip in some of the easier games they have soon

Klopp had won everything there was to be won at this stage in his Liverpool career, so if you view these two as at all similar it's very understandable you don't want Arteta to go.

I'm starting to think you're not even reading my posts. First you talk about fans and social media, which I haven't mentioned at all, then you talk about guarantees, which I haven't talked about at all.

If the prerequisite for letting go of a player or manager is that it must be guaranteed that the replacement is better, no club should ever let a manager or player go. But that's not the case.

Arteta was appointed with no management background and got massively backed both with funds and the owners trust and if we can't get it done in this type of season where the opportunity is wide open there is nothing to suggest he can do it at another point. We missed the moment when we lost to title to Leicester to take the action we needed to try to progress when it was clear Wenger couldn't win it when things fell for him and we should be doing the same this year with Arteta.

I have no idea how the board would react though and we might enter a similar period where we stuck with Wenger too long.

I honestly think that being in every competition is what's going fuck us in the end. It's too physically and emotionally taxing. Those highs against Chelsea just to reach a Carabao final.

It's also a WC year - these guys are gonna be done next season.

I was still angry about it when I got to my mate Steve's before we went off to play football tonight (scored an early goal, defended like heroes, won 1-0), but it's gone now. What's important is the next game.

I dunno though, I wasn't even that pissed off myself tbh. I mean I was definitely annoyed but for me these kinds of results weren't beyond possibility with how we've been performing over the last 18 months.
