JazzG when he left it was the right call it just didn't work but we'd finished 5th the prior season so to make out we'd been sitting slumped as a mid table side based on a single season it's a bit disingenuous.

The driver is to find the manager who can take you on, Arteta has taken us to the line but he does not seem to have what it takes to get over it, we need to look for that elite level manager which he just doesn't seem to be at.

Why don't we wait until the season is over before we start saying he can't get over the line? Current direction of travel is not very good and we need to improve but we have played 27 games and still 11 games to go and four competitions to play for, so maybe our fans need to get a fucking grip here.

JazzG that's fair but I'm basing it the previous seasons and what's happening right now as a probability call. If he wins it some how then great, I think he still has major flaws but if you can win a title you get some goodwill

I have said it before, this first title win will be as painful as fuck for him and the club, there is huge pressure on the club but now he has to show he can get the players minds focussed and block out the noise.

Same difference really - no doubt Arteta’s raised the level of the team but equally Arteta hasn’t proven that he’s capable of closing a season out. This form going into Feb is the norm (aside from 23/24) - if he turns it around from here on out, it’ll be the outlier.

Does it not concern you that we've been in pretty poor form for nearly 2 months but just a one off. Arteta made a very nice speech after the United game but do you think his arsenal since have been courageous and attacked the opportunity? The champions league is nice but it's not really a serious competition until the knockouts.

I honestly think that being in every competition is what's going fuck us in the end. It's too physically and emotionally taxing. Those highs against Chelsea just to reach a Carabao final.

tazmania He should be concerned, things are clearly not right and sometimes you need that slap in the face to snap back into reality.

For a lot of this season our attacking play has not been great but defensively we have been resolute and in control, some games even if they played for another 90mins you felt like the opposition wouldn't score but we have lost that defensive discipline. Some of the goals we concede are just pure freak goals. Even against Wolves one was an unbelievable finish and the other comes from Raya mistake so hardly like we are getting battered and clinging on for life but this things seems to keep happening against us! The main problem is at no point in this game did I feel like we were firmly in control even when we were leading and that worries me.

It's too late for a dramatic or even noticeable change of tactics. Players' instincts and patterns of play aren't going to turn on a dime late in the season.

I genuinely don't remember any team recovering from a nosedive like this.

He's accepted that lack of offensive edge as long as our defensive structure sticks. He's said so himself.

Defense is leaking goals non-stop now so I can totally see why he's shitting bricks. I almost feel for him but then I remember he's torturing me weekly...

awooga83 Of course I am worried, I have been saying it for months that our attacking play is simply not good enough and felt once we had all our players back things would improve but clearly they have not. Worrying that our defensive stability has gone as well.

What I worry most about is the number of injuries we are getting, it is simply not sustainable to keep going on like this. We have had a ridiculous number of key players out this season even with our large squad at times looked seriously stretched. I think this has contributed massively to some our players looking physically shot but Arteta is not helping the situation. Some players should have had more minutes like White and Norgaard and Arteta needs to take the blame there.

JazzG that last line is exactly how I felt through the game. 2-1 up but holding my breath despite fucking wolves having no proper shots on target. They scored from 2 flukes but we should've destroyed them.

I can count on one hand the matches where we blew away teams and actually scored to match the performance. Too many close matches.

This stat is concerning too. The next few months will be dreadful

SimplyThePest that's fair and I also think that season was used as the average level when in actual fact I think that was the team running hot and many of our players delivering to near their best. We've seen a reversion to the mean now and this and last year are more typically us

If/when the title race is over, in my mind the unexpungeable image of this season will be once league leaders Arsenal playing eleven men behind the ball against the worst PL team in history.
