-- It's one bad result. I'm not going to comment about the football because that is what it is at this time. Apparently strikers aren't scoring, the league is hard , and we are at the top of all the metrics everywhere, so this is the best we are going to get. Okay. So if we have accepted that, then It's the result we are all mad at.
I think pretty much this. This wasn't a match we should be losing, and rather like our draw with Forest it wasn't a match we drew by the numbers. Not even the attacking numbers.
I'm not convinced we're quite as weak in attack as people are convinced we are. I think our volume of chances has been alright, and having watched it now I think this match was mainly lost by the defence.
What does bother me about our attack is that we don't have aura when we need a goal more urgently, and neither Gyökeres nor Jesus is the striker we need. I'm a bit disappointed we haven't tried Martinelli in that role. He's quicker than both, can finish, and I think he could go on a run for us there. But the fact is Arteta and his team are addicted to what certain players do for us defensively, and Martinelli is one of them.
In any case, we are still top of the league. It doesn't add up to say we are bad. It's more that in order to win the league, we need to maintain the average level we've achieved so far. We're enduring a significant dip in morale and energy right when we could have been stretching our lead into the distance. Players heads have been going down, Arteta seems rattled. We need to turn this dynamic around very soon. And as most of us have said at one time or another, and I continue to think, if Arteta can't turn it around and secure Arsenal the league trophy everything the club and players have done has deserved, then we will have to find a manager who can.
