He got it wrong against City, against Liverpool I understand being a bit conservative but against City we showed them too much respect imo. Should have been been attacking but glad we were more attack minded yesterday. Took a last min winner but overall our performance was so much better.

Burnwinter Fair play. Looking at the Newcastle match I think if the luck and the "moments" were repeated we would also win at Anfield, bravery or otherwise. It's a sport of variable results.

Variance is influenced by actions though. Its like playing cards, yes luck comes into it and you can lose if you play the game well but the more you play it well the more you win. We played much better against Newcastle, we managed over 2xg, against Liverpool we managed around .5xg. So I don't think we can say we had the same luck against Newcastle as we did against Liverpool. And that doesn't even take into account the crazy call to over turn the penalty.

The biggest thing for Arteta was coming through this first 6 difficult games stretch unscathed. Although fine margins had we lost yesterday.

My minimum expectations was 12 points so we have exceeded that.

Now we got the bit between our teeth the next stretch should be less stressful and potentially more enjoyable for all. We can go into them not relaxed but at least without questions marks every second about Arteta/brand of football/our title credentials.

Although as we know it take one game to change things so we mustn’t get complacent and keep going. Liverpool got some tricky games coming up in the next 6 including Chelsea and City away. Time to turn up the heat. Do to them what they did to us this time last year. Keep winning and don’t look back.

Arteta has taken this team and made them into one of the best sides in Europe. He needs to take it a step further and win big trophies but you can't convince me we aren't headed in that direction. Sky Sports News has become a gossip news channel and have got an absolute nobody in Jamie O'Hara to give his opinion, what would he know about dealing with top players?

I don't know if these things Arteta tries make any difference but I ain't gonna knock a guy for trying something. He is dealing with players at the very elite end, any marginal gain should be pursued. The players all like him, all fight for him so he will understand better than most how to get the best out of them and how to try to push them further.

again, arteta didn't say he will do this in the future. they are two years late, he's already done it.

and jamie o'hara, i don't understand how he has a job in media. he doesn't have a voice or face for it. he wasn't a good player and he didn't play for a great club. he beat his partner in front of their kid. it's baffling that anyone wants his opinion on anything.

Thanks for the recap. The Emery era was unfortunate and unfair to the Spaniard. He had absolutely zero chance of turning things around with basically no support from management. The press also did him no favors, and he fell into the same trap Ruben Amorim has found himself now of being wedded to a system/tactics without the right players to execute, overpaid superstars he wasn't able to quickly get rid of, plus a soft, wobbly center. David Luiz. I shudder just thinking about it again.

Glad that shit is over. Happy for Emery that he found his level eventually, and hope we can also find our level at the very top of the pile with Arteta soon.

Well, one things for sure these days - you have to be an exceptional team to better us.

There are never any guarantees but probablikities dictate that we’d eventually win something big if we continue to play at the level we are now.

I think our current status is what generates so much hate, pettiness and bitterness from rival fans online. Lap it up lads, lap it up.

He has to win the title or CL for this to even be a discussion. Let’s stay humble and not get carried away after a decent 4 weeks. We need to learn from the past. Take it game by game, keep grinding out wins and then see at the end of the season where we are and who is the best. If he really is the best manager in the world the proof will be in the pudding.
