I'm on the record as saying that I would be happy with either Gyokeres or Sesko - I think they both would do well here and score goals. I prefer Sesko if given the choice but I won't be disappointed if we go for Gyokeres. I think the crux of the argument between the two players is what your preference is in terms of finished product vs. potential ceiling.
I think the league criticisms are valid with Gyokeres, as are the criticisms of his ineffectiveness in the air. Everything else is nitpicking to me and ignores one of his best traits which is his relentless pursuit of scoring goals - something we could definitely use in the squad getting on the end of the endless tantalizing balls that Saka and Martinelli play across the box and balls in behind by Odegaard.
The overall production criticism with Sesko is also somewhat valid, although I think Leipzig's deployment of him as a supporting striker this season did him a big disservice there, while also allowing him to develop a more well rounded game. With Sesko, its his undeniable traits both physically with his age, height and pace, and technically with his touch on the ball, hold up play and incredible ball striking. With Havertz in place as an above average striker already (I'm biased since I think he's great at everything other than out and out goal scoring), I'd be willing to take the gamble on the higher ceiling since hitting on the Sesko signing could bring us an incredible young world class core of Sesko, Saka, Rice and Saliba that could dominate for years. I think the time is now to take that swing at greatness and give Arteta the unfinished product in Sesko for him to mold into a generational 9. But I'll be happy either way.
