Yeah that's a good point. It's the only thing about him that gives me pause.
Summer 2025 Transfer Window
Wirtz is so much better than anyone else we are linked to. And he can score. Feels like a no brainer.
I'd love Wirtz. I just don't see us forgoing additions at CF and wing to bring him in for the bulk of our summer budget. If we are competing with City for him, you have to expect that he will get wages over what they just gave Marmoush, which would be well over 300k per week, in addition to a 100m plus transfer fee. That's a significant outlay for us even with our financial position and it might be deemed too expensive given the needs we will still have in the attacking line. I don't disagree that he would solve a lot of issues with our current setup (provided Havertz and Saka return healthy) but still think we need additional reinforcements with our attack.
Now if Berta and Arteta are able to really convince KSE to go for it - a summer of Wirtz, Sesko, Zubimendi and Semenyo would put us in the absolute top tier of the continent.
Semenyo is quite raw but he has that ability to trouble any team on any given day.
Another winger I’d be happy to see arrive would be Hudson Odoi - he’s a maverick
Would love Wirtz but a cheaper alternative would be Hakan Calhanoglu. He’s a real playmaker with a goal threat.
JazzG we never sign players who admit they're gooners or blatantly court us.

samthegooner I seriously wouldn't mind him either, he is PL ready as well so as soon as we sign him there is no bedding in period. Home grown on top meaning doesn't take up our foreign player slots either. Probably come in on a similar fee and far less wages as well.
Bring Back Kerrea Gilbert lol true but the fact he has said this publicly must mean he is trying to get our attention. If he keeps his performances up that will definitely get our attention.
Forget Barcola , get Doue instead

The summer was the chance to sign him, no chance they let him go now. We should of been there with Bayern trying to sign him!
GooneriC looks amazing. Shame.
I haven't watched much of him this season, I know he is injury prone which is a worry but on a free transfer could add some much needed depth.
Even if we can't get Wirtz, I think the priority should be for a creative player for the LW slot who can cover at 10 as well, rather than a dribbler. I think only having Ethan as an alternative or cover for Odegaard is a problem we need to solve this summer, but also the team should have 2 playmakers rather than 1
Fuck all those late twenties has-beens who have 8 million miles in their legs. Especially for wing positions.
JazzG this ship has sailed FC
No thanks
JazzG most players decline rapidly after 30. A few outliers continue later in life, but this is unusual. Add to that numerous injuries and it’s not a great start.
He’s on 1500 minutes this sesson versus 2500-3000 for Bayern’s best players. Decent output. But getting this guy is planning for crises.
I'd only take Sane if it is in addition to a headliner winger like I mentioned above. If we are signing him for limited minutes and depth, we could do worse but I doubt he would accept that role and would likely demand higher wages than we should pay for that role.
I really like Real Betis's young left winger, Jesus Rodriguez. He's very direct and has been great the last couple of months for them. Only 19 years old. Adding him plus a more established winger this summer would be a great way to both address our attack and our lack of depth behind our starters. I want us to be targeting those two profiles this summer for wingers - established winger who is either already elite or has the potential to be elite and then a younger player who can add depth and has a high ceiling.
I have never ever been impressed by Sané.

I wanted to give Mikel the benefit of the doubt but bloody hell, Sane? If true, it's beginning to look like he has zero imagination when it comes to signing attackers beyond old'n'busted players that he already knows and/or academy players that force his hand.
