I've got a feeling we aren't getting involved with Gyökeres because Sporting are playing silly buggers with the player and dishonouring their "gentlemen's agreement".

If so then the player and his agent will be feuding with the selling club to get the fee down in order to secure more of the total cost of the transfer in wages and signing-on fee. That situation is not conducive to doing business.

I see the public feud is appearing right on time regarding Gyökeres' "gentlemen's agreement" ~~clusterfuck~~ situation. But if Gyöku's now only moving for close to €100m, it leaves the question of whether he's a better bet than Šeško way more open to debate, and all the more so if it means a long delay as the various outraged parties sort out their differences.

If you said we'd be able to lock up Šeško this month, I'd take that over waiting deep into July to bring in Gyökeres, because once we have Zubi and our main striker target locked away, we can get opportunistic from a strong foundation as far as wheeling and dealing on Martinelli's position goes.

Gurgen While he is a great player I'm not sure Rodrygo is the type of wide player we need. I think someone like Nico Williams, Leao or Gittens type is more what we need on the left.

I’m indifferent between the two. Williams has that pace n power but the performances he put in against United this season worried me a lot

I will feel much better about our window if we can just lock down Sesko. We know Zubimendi is all but done and we won't officially wrap it until July for Sociedad's finances. It also sounds like we are paying a bit more than the RC so that we can break it up in installments which is good news. So if we can lock down Sesko and know going into July that we have Kepa, Sesko and Zubimendi all but wrapped up, then I'm fine with us playing a longer game chasing after true game changers at LW.

I'm with lorddulaarsenal in that I think both Rodrygo and Nico will be successful here, for different reasons. I'd also loop in Barcola as a 3rd option and Gordon as a 4th option, in that order. If we could end up at the end of the summer with Kepa, Sesko, Zubimendi and one of those 4, we are a much improved squad iMO. Anything over that is gravy and anything less than that would be a tad disappointing (although I'd be fine with someone like Semenyo as a consolation).

Neither has ever played regular football outside of Spain (or Brazil)? Seems like a Jesus level risk when it comes to the proverbial cold night in Stoke. Add in the high wage demands of £250k per week or more …

would rather Rodrygo than Nico. I am not convinced the latter isn't just a Spanish Gabimart.
The former for all his flakiness has been played out of position his whole time at RM.

lorddulaarsenal definitely whip out the willy at that one. The thing I love about Rodrygo is while he can do the team game well, he is also capable of individual moments of brilliance. Which we aren’t full of in regular play.

Claudius That is what I like about him as well. After we lost to Bayern our PR - ass licking boys known as gunner what ever and the atheltic, started doing articles about how we as a club know we need that X factor in attack...then they worked hard all summer and got Sterling, but for some reason that did not work out. But coming back to it, there is risk as he is flaki and it can go wrong...but the boy has the X factor, he has scored big goals, in big moments. Some of them amazing goals. He is worth the risk but will he move? Don't know, and if he moves will CIty come in for him?

Williams has everything you could want in a winger, hes big, strong, fast, footballing IQ so he can combine with other players to open spaces, dribbling. He has everything you can't really coach. I do want us to sign him.

My big worry is he's got talisman status in Bilbao. If you've never been behind the scenes at a big club it's hard to explain but he'll light up every room he goes into. Everyone will be hyping him up all the time playfully. Saka has it here. Cesc probably had it here when he carried the team for so many years, playing through injury after injury. Havertz had it in Leverkusen, you're 100% the guy and everyone is behind you. In that situation you don't need to worry about having a bad game or a bad miss.

When people leave that environment they sometimes struggle a bit. I would have liked William's to have broken out at least in that environment before a move. If he comes here on big money and gets 5 goals like he has this season, he'll get constant flack and it'll be 100x harder for him mentally. Then we'll need him to have some real grit.

Agreed, and it looks like Bayern will sign him now which is a huge shame given our interest.

Speedster kind of feel the opposite almost, seems to me, he ups his game when he plays for the national team, which is a good sign that he plays better with better players.. even though he is not the big fish... could be because its weaker opposition..

As much as I like Rodrygo, he is the least likely to happen for me, so need to keep options open

Yep he definitely looks better for the national team. Those tournaments with Spain's dominant midfield his fun for the guy.

But I'm more thinking the grind of a premier league campaign. When it's not fun it's a battle and you're not that star guy anymore until you step up. I'm not saying he can't do it, and the guy is ready to explode talent wise. I'm just it'll be a culture shift for him if he doesn't hit the ground running. At least the atmosphere is good so he'll be better able to settle.

new name. Gordon, how much better is he then Martinelli? If any? Guehi won't be cheap, I know they said no to fees of 40-50 mil last summer.

HomeSteak Gordons had a bit of a mid season but the season before he was probably the best LW in the league. I always find his work rate impressive too. Awful, awful face though.
