Burnwinter If he's our top target, then we must be betting big on an analysis of Šeško's traits that isn't so visible in his numbers—barring of course his age. 13 goals in 33 Bundesliga appearances for 7th-placed Leipzig isn't setting the world on fire, and similar numbers in England aren't winning us the league.
Set those numbers against a high reported fee (even if it's £80m not £90m) and I'm not convinced we end up reaping a benefit from Šeško being a half-decade younger than Gyökeres.
I think you need to look more closely at his numbers, or rather, look at the more relevant numbers. He was subbed off in 24 of those 33 games, he rarely finishes games for Leipzig.
In his first season in the Bundesliga, aged 20, he spent the first half as a sub and only established himself as a starter in the second half of the season. Despite that, he averaged a goal every 109 mins. Across all competitions (BL, CL, cup) he averaged a goal or assist every 102 minutes.
This season, now established as their first choice 9, he has dropped off to a goal every 184 minutes, so 1 in 2, still not bad at all for a 21 year old in his first full season as a leading 9. Add in his assists and his Bundesliga G/A rate is every 133 mins (for context Havertz in the PL this season was around 155 mins). However he also played in the CL as well, and played against mostly good teams in the cup too, and if you factor in those numbers, he has a goal every 155 mins this season, or a goal/assist every 120 minutes.
