We should regularly be in for centre halves of that age and potential as Hale End isn't turning out many of them (unlike, say midfield, fullback and wide prospects). I'm a believer in focusing on elite talents age 18–25 when recruiting for the spine of the team.
In midfield, in central defence, or at 9, I want to see "Saliba" and "Rice" type signings, or academy promotions. No grizzled veterans, mercenary super-subs or declining fringe players should be choking up the squad in those roles. Everyone we have should either be elite or capable of becoming elite.
