Goals. We didn't score enough of them this season. For various reasons. It stands to reason that this will be the aspect most focused on by Berta this summer. We rely too heavily on two players whose form and fitness were mixed this season. We need two things to mitigate that -
a) your back up/ depth has to offer more. Be capable of providing almost at about the same level as your first team. Something different, but equally important (eg calafiori and MLS). That sort of situation is what we should strive to have across the board.
b) top up quality in the center forward and left wing positions. It's not going to be easy, but we really need to either upgrade on Martinelli, or find a way to get him to become a player who is involved in 20-30 goals plus assists next season. Apologies to his fans but 7 goals and 4 assists in 29 PL games so far is just shit. We spread the goals around in this team, but wingers carry the bulk of our offensive threat, and that won't change even if we get a top striker (who hopefully throws in another 20 or thereabouts). Liverpool have 80 goals. We are sitting here with 63, and drawing almost as many times as we won games. That forward line needs revamping. Especially if we are not getting consistent productivity from Odegaard and choose not to provide an option to him also.
